The 2023 PGA Tour regular season comes to a close this week with the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The event marks the last chance for players to position themselves inside the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings with a shot at the TOUR Championship. Originally called the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament was founded in 1938 and has been played at Sedgefield since 2008.
Tom Kim picked up his first career PGA Tour victory here last season, becoming the third player in seven seasons to notch his first career win at this event. Kim fired a four-day total of 260 (20-under par), five shots clear of the runner-ups John Huh and Sungjae Im. He won’t be back this week to defend his title as he rests for the playoffs next week.
Let’s take a look at the top players for the 2023 Wyndham Championship so you can wager against their PGA Tour lines to win this golf tournament.

Sedgefield Country Club
Sedgefield joins Detroit Country Club as the only two golf courses played on Tour designed by the late Donald Ross. The course is relatively short, measuring just over 7,000 yards, and plays as a par-70. Sedgefield opened for play in 1926 and underwent a major $3 million dollar redesign in 2007.
The course features numerous Ross staples, including small and undulated greens and rolling fairways. You don’t have to be a bomber to play well here, as ball striking and putting are the key statistics this week.
Six of the last seven winners have eclipsed 20-under par or better to win the event, so players will need to have the flat stick rolling and take advantage of the many birdie opportunities on the course.
Wyndham Championship Field
Many of the top players in the world won’t be in action this week as they rest for the upcoming FedEx Cup Playoffs. Still, there will be plenty of drama this week as players ranked near 70th fight for their playoff hopes and the comfort of a Tour card next season.
Notable players in the field that find themselves needing a strong finish to tee it up next include past FedEx champions Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel. Thomas comes in sitting in 79th place and will need a strong week to get inside the number. Horschel is 116th in the standings and will need to win in order to play in next week’s opening playoff round.
Joining Thomas and Horschel on the outside looking in are past major winners Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, and Gary Woodland. Lowry has the best chances of the bunch, sitting in 76th place heading into the tournament.

Wyndham Championship Betting Favorites
Hideki Matsuyama (+1750) is the betting favorite this week at Sedgefield. The eight-time PGA Tour winner looks to get back into the winner’s circle for the first time this season. Matsuyama’s best finish this year was a solo 5th at the PLAYERS.
Im and Russell Henley (+1950) are next in line as betting favorites. Im has played well in this event, posting three top-10 finishes in four chances. Henley can add his second win of the season this week with a victory.
Rounding out the top favorites are Si Woo Kim (+2100) and Sam Burns (+2400). Both players are safely in the playoffs but looking for momentum heading into the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
