The Wild Card Round is over, and you have to say that it definitely lived up to the “WILD” tag, with several favorites crashing out of the playoffs at the first hurdle. This weekend will deliver the Divisional Round, with the top seeds from each conference entering the fray and getting ready to do battle. Will the week off have helped, or will it make the #1 seeds a little rusty ahead of games against teams that have already picked up a playoff win? Only time will tell, but we are going to look at the NFL spread picks for all 4 games to see if we can put together some winning tickets, so let’s get right to it.
Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens
While the Texans did have the benefit of playing at home in the Wild Card, the nature of their win over the Cleveland Browns made a lot of people sit up and take notice. It is going to be interesting to see if they can maintain that high level of play when they hit the road to face the #1 seed in the AFC. While Houston has lost in each of their last 7 meetings with the Ravens, you have to say that this team looks better equipped to make a game of it. The Texans have covered in 8 of their last 11 road games, so let’s take them to do it again.
Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are in as the favorite to win the Super Bowl this year, but this is going to be a tricky test for them in the Divisional Round. Jordan Love and the Packers looked to be at the very top of their game in an absolute hammering of the Dallas Cowboys on the road. Everything clicked for the Packers, but you also have to say that the Cowboys really didn’t look ready to play. The 49ers have failed to cover in their last 5 at home, but they are also 13-3 ATS in their last 16 January outings.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions
Monday night saw another surprise, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers manhandling the Philadelphia Eagles in what was a stunning upset. The Bucs took full advantage of their home field advantage in that one, but now they have to go on the road to face a Lions team that squeaked past the Rams in arguably the best game in the Wild Card Round. Both teams have been good against the spread of late, but you cannot overlook the fact that the Bucs are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 meetings with the Lions.
Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
Both of these teams are coming off comfortable wins in less-than-ideal weather conditions, and we can only hope that this meeting is as good as their last few have been. Earlier this season, the Bills won a close one over the Chiefs after getting the benefit of a controversial penalty that canceled out a winning TD for the Chiefs. KC will be looking for revenge on Sunday, but they are going against a Bills team that appears to be getting into stride at just the right time. I am on Buffalo to cover in a close one.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?

Divisional Round ATS Betting Predictions | 2023 NFL Odds
Over the years, we have come to expect the unexpected once the NFL playoffs roll around. We are just 1 week into the postseason, and we have already seen some major drama and surprises, with none bigger than the Jacksonville Jaguars digging out of a 0-27 hole to come back and win against the LA Chargers. In the playoffs, though, there is no time to dwell on past victories, as the next game up is always right around the corner, as is the potential for elimination. As we head into the Divisional Round this weekend, we have to wonder if more surprises are in store. There are some NFL playoffs Lines, big underdogs in here, but can they go out, do the business, and cover the spread? Let’s get into our ATS picks for the NFL Divisional Round.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs
We quickly discussed the amazing comeback that we saw from the Jaguars in the Wild Card Round, but outside of that, this team is still a scary proposition. On the brink of elimination, this is a team that has essentially been playing playoff ball for weeks now, winning their last 5 regular season games to win the division. They are a big underdog here, though, with the #1 seeded Chiefs in as an 8 ½ point home favorite. The Jags have had a rough time against the Chiefs, but they are also 5-1 ATS in their last 6 overall. Jaguars to cover.
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles looked to be cruising to the #1 seed at the tail end of the season before losing QB Jalen Hurts to injury. They did eventually nab the top seed, but not before losing both games that Hurts missed with a bad shoulder. That extra week off will have been a godsend. The Giants put in arguably their best performance of the season in their Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings, but they are still in as a 7 ½ point dog for this one. The Eagles won both regular season meetings, but the last one was close. Giants to cover.
Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills
We may have had a whole lot more to go on with this one has they been able to complete their Week 17 game. That didn’t happen, though, but I still think this game looks to be the best matchup in the Divisional Round. Both teams needed to work very hard to get out of the Wild Card Round, but the reality is that it doesn’t matter how you win and move on. The Bengals will hit the road as a 5-point underdog, but they have covered in 7 of their last 8 road games. Bengals to cover.
Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers
It’s a bit of a short week for the Dallas Cowboys, with their Wild Card Round win over the Buccaneers coming last Monday night. I don’t particularly think that will be too much of a factor here, though, especially since the Cowboys won that game in a bit of a canter. The 49ers once again looked great against the Seahawks, winning easily to extend their win streak to 11 games. They come into this one as a 3 ½ point favorite, but I have a sneaking suspicion they could be in trouble here. Cowboys to cover.

2020 NFL Divisional Round ATS Betting Picks
The Wild Card Weekend proved to be one that was a little tough on bettors who like to play the favorite, as we saw a couple of really big surprises last weekend. This coming weekend, we will see the tops seeds in each conference come to play in the Divisional Round. Are the big guns going to move on, or will the lower seeds who came up with wins last week ride that positive wave into the Conference Finals? There is a lot to break down here, and we are going to cover all the wagering bases. Let’s get started with our against the spread NFL Betting picks for the Divisional Round.
Minnesota Vikings (+7) vs San Francisco 49ers
Coming into the playoffs, the knock on Vikings QB Kirk Cousins was that he could not win the big games. He put that to bed with a stellar performance on the road in New Orleans, helping Minnesota take out the Saints in OT.
The Vikings have now covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus teams from the NFC. While they don’t have a great record on the road against the 49ers, they have won 4 of the last 5 against the 49ers overall. Vikings to cover.
2020 Divisional Round Betting Trends
- Vikings are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games played in January
- 49ers are 5-14-1 ATS in their last 20 games when playing as the favorite
Tennessee Titans (+9) vs Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens spent much of the season blowing teams out on their way to the #1 seed in the AFC, but things tend to get a little tougher in the playoffs. The Titans are coming off a huge win on the road against the New England Patriots in the Wild Card, with their run game helping them pick up that stunning win.The best way to control the Ravens is to keep Lamar Jackson and the offense off the field, which the Titans can do if they establish the run early. I don’t see Tennessee winning, but I think they can do enough to cover.
2020 Divisional Round Betting Trends
- Titans are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games against an opponent in the AFC conference
- Ravens are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games played in January
Houston Texans (+9 ½) vs Kansas City Chiefs
With the playoffs now in full swing, it’s easy to forget about what went down in the regular season. With that in mind a lot of bettors may have already forgotten that the Houston Texans went into Kansas City and came away with the win earlier this season.
The Chiefs defense has tightened up considerably since then, but the Texans had some good practice last weekend in going against a very tough Bills D and passing the test, albeit requiring OT to do so. I think we could be looking at a tight one here, which is why I am on Houston to cover.
2020 Divisional Round Betting Trends
- Texans are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games when playing as the underdog
- Chiefs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games at home
Seattle Seahawks (+4) vs Green Bay Packers
I am taking a bit of a shot here and going with all the underdogs to cover the spread, although be sure to check my SU picks to see if that translates to some surprise wins. The Seattle Seahawks are about as banged up as a team can be at this stage of the season, but they have a coach and a QB who have a ton of experience in the postseason.
They did just enough last weekend to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on the road, and while this is a tougher proposition, I think they can keep this game to within a field goal.
2020 Divisional Round Betting Trends
- Seahawks are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Green Bay
- Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games played in January
