Why Bet on the Panthers versus the Falcons?

Carolina not only upgraded the quarterback position by drafting Bryce Young, but the Panthers also boast one of the NFC’s better defenses. The defense held opponents to less than 159 passing yards per game last season.

If the D can do that on Sunday, Carolina will cheat, move an eighth man into the box, to stop Atlanta’s vaunted rushing attack. That should allow the Panthers to get the Falcons‘ offense off the field.

Going back to Young, the reason Carolina head coach Frank Reich drafted Bryce is because he’s as calm and cool as a five year NFL veteran. Bryce doesn’t often make mistakes and he takes what the defense gives him.

Why Bet on the Falcons versus the Panthers?

Atlanta’s rushing game averaged close to 160 yards per last season and that was without Bijan Robinson toting the pigskin. Robinson, a first round draft pick, is the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year because most expect him to make an immediate impact.

Bijan has amazing rusher instincts. He knows where defenders will be before they get to their spots. If Robinson is as effective as so many believe he will be in this game, QB Desmond Ridder should have no trouble getting the ball to one of the top tight-ends in football, Kyle Pitts.

Drake London should take the next step this season. The highly touted wide receiver will benefit from Ridder having an entire offseason as the designated starter.

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons Betting Prediction

The spread line overly emphasizes Bryce Young’s impact. Young has skills but he’s terribly undersized at 5′ 10" and 194 pounds.

Young should have a tough time in this game. Carolina’s offensive line was shaky in the preseason and Atlanta upgraded their defense big time. Safety Jessie Bates III comes over from the Cincinnati Bengals, corner Jeff Okudah is a former top five draft pick of the Detroit Lions, and Daniel Onyemata is an underrated defensive lineman who played for the New Orleans Saints

On offense, Robinson plays behind one of the better offensive lines in the NFL, which means the ATL could lean on the back if Ridder doesn’t play well. From all angles, the ATL covers. Back the Falcons with confidence.
