There is no such thing as a meaningless game in the NHL playoffs, with every win taking a team one step closer to the Stanley Cup and each loss moving them ever closer to elimination. We have a couple of Round 2 games set to go on Tuesday night, and while no team can be eliminated this evening, they can very much be taken to the brink. Both matchups are Game 4 outings, and these games may well dictate the playoff futures of all 4 teams involved. Our pick from last night did not pan out at all, as the Vegas Golden Knights had a comfortable 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Let’s see the NHL betting analysis and if we can do better tonight with the 2 games that we have on tap.

Carolina Hurricanes at New Jersey Devils

Hurricanes Lead 2-1

This game is potentially massive for the Hurricanes, as a win tonight would have them heading back home with an opportunity to close out the series. They looked unbeatable on home ice in the opening 2 games of this series, winning both, while outscoring the Devils 11-2 in the process. Carolina did win twice on the road in their Round 1 series against the Islanders, so no reason to believe they can’t bounce back from a Game 3 loss to win this one.

While it’s not quite do or die for the Devils just yet, it certainly will be if they cannot take advantage of home ice. They showed some real grit after heading home in an 0-2 hole in this series, coming up with a massive 8-4 win in Game 3. The Devils went 2-2 in their own building in their opening round series against the New York Rangers, so they are certainly not infallible on home ice.

I’m looking at the OVER in this one, and I like the Devils to even up the series with a 6-4 win.

Dallas Stars at Seattle Kraken

The Dallas Stars had to dig themselves out of an early hole in their opening round series against the Minnesota Wild. They went down 2-1 after 3 games in that series, which they followed up with 3 straight wins to take the series in 6 games. If they are going to do that again, they are going to need to find a way to shake off the 7-2 pounding they took in Seattle in Game 3.

Despite going 1-2 at home in their Round 1 series against the Colorado Avalanche, the upstart Seattle Kraken still managed to win the series in 7 games. They are following a similar pattern here as they did in the opening round, getting the split on the road to steal home ice advantage. This time around, though, they kept that advantage with a huge win in Game 3. The Kraken are the surprise team of these playoffs and don’t seem to know or care that they are not supposed to be here.

The Kraken are on a roll right now, which is why I like them to win Game 4 by a score of 5-3.
