Euroleague Betting Picks and Analysis for the Best Round 34 Games

Euroleague Round 34: April 13-14, 2023

EuroLeague Playoff Bubble Battle

Round 34 will decide the remaining two spots in the EuroLeague playoffs. As it stands now, six teams are qualified for the playoffs. Two playoff spots remain for three potential teams.

The three teams competing to secure their playoff spots are Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gastelz, and Zalgiris Kaunas. Fenerbahce looks like they have the easiest path – they play Crvena Zvezda, who are already out of the playoff race.

Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz has a more difficult path to the playoffs. They face league-leading Olympiacos Piraeus. Zalgiris Kaunas has the easiest opponent this round in basement dweller Bayern Munich, but Cazoo holds the head-to-head advantage against them in the tiebreaker. If Fenerbahce and Cazoo win, they’ll grab the remaining two playoff spots.

Looking Ahead at the EuroLeague Bracket

The EuroLeague playoff bracket works differently than the NBA playoffs. After the regular season, the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.

The first round of the playoffs consists of four series of two teams each, who play a best-of-five format against each other. The winners then play in the EuroLeague Final Four. The EuroLeague Final Four is always at a neutral site. This year, the final will be in Kaunas, Lithuania. The semifinal games are on Friday, and the third-place game and championship game are on Sunday of that weekend.

There will be a new EuroLeague champion this year. Turkish club Anadolu Efes Istanbul did not qualify for the playoffs after winning back-to-back EuroLeague championships. Upsets can always happen on the way to the playoffs, but it’s safe to expect that we will see some of the chalk favorites in Kaunas at the Final Four.

For those trying to predict the next EuroLeague champion, look at the Spanish teams – FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. Both were runner-ups in the last two EuroLeague finals to Anadolu Efes, losing close championship games to the eventual Turkish champions.

Barcelona has a wealth of former NBA talents like former Chicago Bull Nikola Mirotic and former Washington Wizard Tomas Satoransky, whose stateside experience in the NBA should serve them well in the intensity of the EuroLeague Playoffs. Real Madrid has a more balanced squad, but the club’s lineage of ten EuroLeague championships will keep the current team focused on building the history of the storied Spanish basketball club.
