MLB Betting Lines for the 2024 Opening Night Games

As is always the case with the first day of the season, every single team will be in action, which makes it a bit of a bettor’s paradise. All told, we have 16 games on the schedule on Thursday, with the matchups spread out across the day. There is going to be a lot of channel hopping going on as fans try to keep up with the action, as well as a lot of money spent on bets.

LA Angels at Baltimore Orioles

With Shohei Ohtani set to begin life with the Dodgers, this figures to be a long season for the LA Angels. They have a tough opening matchup, going on the road to face the AL East champions. The Orioles are at -180 to win, with the run total at 8 ½.

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox

The belief is that the Tigers might be back this season, although just how big a forward step they will take remains to be seen. They have a very winnable opener against the White Sox and are in as a favorite at odds of -175.

Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals

The twins are looking to once again win the AL Central and will open on the road against a Royals team that ended in the division cellar last year. The Twins are the favorite to win at odds of -120, but the run total has yet to be set, so check back in.

New York Yankees at Houston Astros

This might be the best matchup of Opening Day, as both of these teams should be playoff bound. The Yankees are looking to bounce back after an injury riddled season, but this is a tough start. The Astros are the favorite at odds of -150, with the run total at 8 ½.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Miami Marlines

Expect another long year, while the Marlins look to get into the Wild Card picture. Miami is a home favorite at odds of -135, with the run total set at 7.

San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres

It was a disappointing season for both of these teams in 2023, but both will be looking to get into the Wild Card picture, since we expect the Dodgers to win the West. The odds are yet to hit the board for this one, so be sure to check back prior to opening pitch.

St. Louis Cardinals at LA Dodgers

LA comes into this season as the favorite to win it all, and they are a big favorite here at odds of -240, with the run total set at 8 ½.

Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays

I expect a very good battle in the AL East this season, so this should be a fun start to the season. The Rays are in as a home favorite at odds of -130, but the Jays offense is going to be tough to tame. The run total for this one is set at 7 ½.

Washington Nationals at Cincinnati Reds

2023 was a bit of a nightmare season for the Washington Nationals and I would not expect much better this year. The Reds had a winning season last year and will be looking to improve upon that. They are the favorite here at odds of -150, with the run total set at 8 ½.

Chicago Cubs at Texas Rangers

It’s never easy to open on the road against the defending World Series champions, but that is what the Cubs will be doing on Thursday. The Rangers are a mild favorite for this game at -115, with the run total set at 8.

Cleveland Guardians at Oakland As

The Guardians ended the 2023 season sitting 10 games below .500, but that was still much better than the nightmare season that the As delivered as they sit in limbo waiting for a move to Vegas. The Guardians are at -155 for this one, with the run total set at 7 ½.
