Domantas Sabonis had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings. Trae Young led the Hawks with 24 points and matched a career high with five steals. The Kings shot 12 for 18 (67%) in the fourth quarter, while the Hawks were limited to 7 for 26 (27%). The Hawks did not score in the final 4:45 and missed their final eight shots. Bogdan Bogdanovic enters Monday’s game having made at least one three-pointer in 51 straight regular season games, tied with Kyle Korver for the second-longest such streak in franchise history, and the second-longest active streak in the NBA: Damian Lillard (117), Bogdan Bogdanovic (51), Lauri Markkanen (42). Bogdanovic has connected on 123 total three-pointers, tied for the eighth-most triples by any player in the NBA. He might start in place of Young.

Clint Capela enters Monday with 399 career steals, one shy of his 400th career theft. Capela is on pace to become the 10th active player in the NBA with over 7,000 career points, 6,000 career rebounds, 800 career blocks, 500 career assists and 400 career steals.

“A loss like this, it should sting,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “I know that we can be a better defensive team than what we are. So it has to start there because at the end of the day, we’re going to figure out a way to score. We’ve just got to figure out a way to slow some of these teams down.”

Kevin Huerter had a career-high 31 points in the loss. Huerter was red-hot from behind the arc Thursday, knocking down a season-high seven triples. Domantas Sabonis had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, his 12th triple-double of the season and third in as many games. Since Dec. 1, Sabonis is averaging 21.2 points (63.0 FG%), 13.4 rebounds and 8.7 assists per outing. He leads the NBA in rebounds per game and total rebounds.

The Kings have been involved in trade talks on multiple fronts as general manager Monte McNair looks to shore up the roster for another run to the playoffs. Huerter, Harrison Barnes and Davion Mitchell are frequently mentioned in potential deals.

Sacramento won 48 games to secure the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference last season, ending the longest playoff drought in NBA history after 16 consecutive losing seasons. At 23-18, they have the same record as they had at this point a year ago, but they have fallen to seventh in the West after losing their last four games.

“This is a team that’s trying to get better and looking at ways to become legit contenders,” Huerter said of trade rumors. “I think, for the most part, every team has a lot of names on the table besides maybe a small handful of guys. It’s just part of playing in the NBA and part of the contract I’m on.”
