Why Bet on Atlanta?

The Hawks lost their fourth game in a row on Monday, 129-122 at home to defending NBA champion Denver as Atlanta was without forwards De’Andre Hunter and Jalen Johnson. The latter hasn’t played in weeks due to a wrist injury and won’t in this one. Hunter is day-to-day with right quad soreness. Garrison Matthews started in his spot Monday and wasn’t a factor.

Bogdan Bogdanovic set career highs with 40 points and 10 3-pointers in the loss. Bogdanovic sank three 3s in the final two minutes but the Nuggets, who had a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter, held off Atlanta’s comeback. The Hawks got within 126-122 in the final minute. Over his last 10 outings, Bogdanovic is averaging 20.4 points per game while shooting 46.0 percent from three-point range.

Bogdanovic, who has extended his streak of knocking down two-or-more three-pointers in a franchise-high tying 17 straight games, is the first bench player in the NBA since Malik Monk (45 PTS, 2/24/23) to pour in 40-or-more off the bench and the first to knock down at least 10 three-pointers as a reserve since J.R. Smith (10 3FGM, 12/23/09). In the NBA this season, Bogi ranks sixth in three-pointers made per game (3.4), while ranking second in made triples off the bench (3.5). He leads all bench players in PPG (17.1), FGM (6.2) and SPG (1.50).

Trae Young scored 19 points before he was ejected when he picked up two technical fouls with 25 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Young was upset no foul was called when Peyton Watson reached in on Young’s drive. Hawks coach Quin Snyder also was called for a technical while protesting the no-call. Dejounte Murray had 21 points and six rebounds and has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five outings, boosting his season average to 20.0 points per game.

Saddiq Bey has netted 15-or-more points in four straight games, tied for the third-longest such scoring streak of his career. Over those four outings, Bey is averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds (.471 FG%, .440 3FG%, .846 FT%). His .440% clip from deep is the 12th-highest in the league since Dec. 2.

The Hawks are averaging 122.2 points per game this season, the third-most in the NBA. They have hit the century mark in 79 consecutive regular-season outings, tied with the Cincinnati Royals (12/6/61-12/2/62) for the sixth-longest such streak in NBA history … A 100-point outing on Wednesday would tie the Hawks with the San Antonio Spurs (80, 2/4/83-2/3/84) for the fifth-longest such scoring streak in league history.

Why Bet on Toronto?

The Raptors lost their fourth game in a row Monday, 136-130. New York broke open the game in the fourth quarter behind two of its bench players. Quentin Grimes, who has struggled to find a rhythm this season and recently lost his starting job to Donte DiVincenzo, had a 3-pointer and Josh Hart also scored during a 7-0 run that turned a tie game into a 115-108 lead.

Dennis Schroder registered 20 points and 10 points in the loss, his sixth double-double of the season and scoring at least 20 points for the first time in almost three weeks. He’d been in a prolonged slump, shooting 31.9% from the field and averaging 11.4 points in the seven games prior. Schröder is averaging a career-best 7.0 assists per game which leads all Raptors and is ranked T-10th in the league this season. He also added a career-high tying four steals against the Knicks to become the fifth Raptor-ever to record at least 20 points, 10 assists and 4 steals in a game.

The Raptors have recorded 25-or-more assists in a league-leading 21 games this season including 30+ assists in seven contests following 32 assists on Monday. Toronto currently ranks fourth in the NBA in assists (28.5).

OG Anunoby led the team with 29 points and scored 15 points in the third quarter marking a season-high for most points in a quarter and is the sixth time in his career that he has scored 15+ points in a quarter (last: Mar. 26, 2023 vs. Washington; career-high 18 points). Monday marked the fourth time this year Anunoby has scored five-or-more three-point field goals marking a single-season career-high.

Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam have now recorded 20-or-more points in the same game seven times this season. Barnes recorded 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals in a game-high 38 minutes on Monday. He has recorded 20-or-more points in four of the last five games, averaging 23.0 points and shooting 53.7 percent (44-82) in that span. Siakam played in his 400th career regular season start — the sixth most in Raptors franchise history — and scored 20 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 3PT) and added a season-high four steals.

All five of Toronto’s starters scored in double figures on Monday for the seventh time this season, which is tied with the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets for second most in the league. The Hawks are tied for third with six. Four of the five starters scored 20+ points and is the first time the Raptors had four 20-point scorers since Feb. 7, 2022 at Charlotte.

Reserves Chris Boucher (left thigh contusion) and Otto Porter Jr. (left foot contusion) did not participate in Tuesday’s practice. While Boucher was injured during Monday’s loss to the Knicks, Porter was injured during Toronto’s Dec. 8 loss to the Hornets and did not play. If they both sit, more minutes will be available to Precious Achiuwa, with rookie Gradey Dick moving into the back end of the rotation.
