While we all sit and wait to see where the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Julio Jones, and Jimmy Garoppolo will land, we can begin to look ahead and make some sort of assessment on each team as the start of the new NFL season approaches. With a lot of big names, including those already mentioned, still likely to be on the move before the start of the season, the odds being offered now are likely to look different in the coming weeks. A lot of you are probably going to wait for the dust to settle before making your wagers for the season, but there are also going to be some who roll the dice now and hope for the best. We are going to look at each team as they look now and make some predictions, so let’s now turn our attention to the Minnesota Vikings. Let’s get right to it so you can plan ahead your bets against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting – Minnesota Vikings Calendar Odds & Analysis For the 2021-22 Season
The Vikings in 2020
Heading into last season, there was a definite feeling that the Vikings window of opportunity to win the Super Bowl had closed. That played out somewhat as expected, with the Vikings missing the playoffs after finishing 3rd in the NFC North. If they are to return to prominence this season, they will need to get off to a much faster start this coming season.
One of the biggest issues, although certainly not the only one, that the Vikings dealt with last season was the play of QB Kirk Cousins. He got off to a slow start, turning the ball over all too regularly before settling into a groove and playing well in the second half of the season. That slow start killed them, though, with the Vikings ending the season at 7-9.
Odds to Make the Playoffs and Win the Super Bowl
Head coach Mike Zimmer might well be on the hot seat to start this season, and he will be hoping that the trend of the Vikings making the playoffs every second year comes into play in 2021. For that to happen, though, Minnesota is going to need Cousins to be at his best from the start. A Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals is one that certainly needs to be viewed as winnable, and it probably needs to be given that the Cardinals and Seahawks are what comes right after that game. If the Vikings win their opener and even split those next two games, they could be in decent shape. That, though, is followed by a game against the Browns, so there is also the chance that this group could be sitting at 1-3 after the first 4 weeks. Do the bookies think that the Vikings have a shot at the playoffs in 2021?
This is one of those situations where potential upcoming moves could have an impact on the whole division. For example, does the Vikings chances of making it in and potentially winning the division change if the Packers move Aaron Rodgers? How good will the Bears be with a rookie QB in Justin Fields? This is a division that is tough to predict until all the rosters are set. As it stands now, I think the Vikings are looking at an 8-9 or 9-8 season, but will that be enough?
As far as winning the Super Bowl goes, I don’t give this team much of a shot. The bookies seem to agree, as they have Minnesota at +4000 to win it all.
NFL Minnesota Vikings Calendar Analysis In 2020
We are now just a matter of days away from the start of the season, which means that now might well be the best time to get in on the future bets in the NFL. Once teams start to pick up wins, you are going to see their odds shorten across the board, so now is when you are likely to get the best NFL odds. We are going to look at all the teams in the league and talk about their chances of winning the division, conference, and Super Bowl, as well as looking at their win total for the year.
In the Mike Zimmer era, which encompasses 6 seasons ahead of this one, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the Minnesota Vikings. They missed the playoffs in his first season in charge and have since alternated between making it and missing out. If that trend holds, then the Vikings would not be playing beyond the end of the regular season this year. How that pans out remains to be seen, but we can look at their chances in a number of different ways.
