Who Will Battle for the Cup? Examining NHL Conference Finals Odds with Top Contenders

NHL Conference Finals Odds to Win: The current state of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is that we are in something of a holding pattern.

3 of the 4 teams heading to the Conference Finals have been decided, but there is still one more series waiting to be closed out.

My Analysis

That is in the Western Conference, where the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers will be heading to Game 7. The Dallas Stars are waiting to see who they will face in the Western Conference Final, while the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers are ready to go over in the East. We will be making predictions for both conferences at a later date, but for now, we are going to focus on the current NHL odds for each team to win their respective conferences, so let’s get right to it.

NHL Eastern Conference Odds

As mentioned at the top of this piece, the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers will be squaring off in the conference final. Before we get to how they might match up, as well as their odds to win, let’s take a look at how each team got here.

The Panthers started things out with a relatively easy passage through Round 1, building up a 3-0 lead in the series before eventually knocking off the Tampa Bay Lightning in 5 games. They took their foot off the gas a little in Round 2, losing the opening game to the Boston Bruins before winning 4 of the next 5 to take the 4-2 series win.

The Rangers made things look easy in Round 1, sweeping the Washington Capitals in Round 1. They then took a 3-0 lead over the Hurricanes in Round 2 before losing 2 in a row. They closed it out in 6 games, though.

The Panthers and Rangers met 3 times in the regular season, with Florida taking 2 of 3. The Panthers are favorites to win this series at odds of -151, while the Rangers are at +123.

NHL Western Conference Odds

Since the Dallas Stars have already punched their ticket into the Conference Final, let’s look at their path first. They were made to work very hard in Round 1, needing all 7 games to knock off the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights. Round 2 was another solid battle, but they eventually made their way past the Colorado Avalanche in 6 games.

As mentioned earlier, the other series in the West is knotted at 3-3. The Oilers had little difficulty in Round 1, getting past the LA Kings in 5 games, while the Canucks had a tougher time of it with Nashville, needing 6 games to knock off the Predators.

The Canucks have had the lead in this series on 3 different occasions and have the benefit of home ice advantage heading into Game 7. This series has been totally unpredictable, though, so who knows how this final game will play out. The bookies seem to have some idea as to what they think, judging by the odds tow in the Western Conference Final.

The Dallas Stars are in as the favorite at odds of -144, with the Edmonton Oilers at +236. The Canucks, despite having that Game 7 advantage, are sitting at +560.
