NHL Playoffs Betting Predictions for Conferences Eastern and Western

NHL Playoffs Betting Predictions for Conferences Eastern and Western

Time is winding down on the NHL regular season, with the playoffs now very much on the horizon. Despite the fact that we are now just a few short weeks away from the postseason, we still only have 1 team that has officially clinched a spot, although that number will begin to rise over the next week or so. Every team is getting close to being down to their final 10 games or so, which means there really isn’t that much time left to make a big move. For the most part, the biggest battles in each conference are for the Wild Card spots, and it looks as though those will go right down to the wire. With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at NHL Odds and both conferences to see how things might play out coming down the stretch.

Eastern Conference

We mentioned at the top of this piece that only 1 team has clinched a playoff spot to this point. That team is the Boston Bruins, who have been far and away the best team in the NHL this season. They already have 113 points and will be the winners of the President’s Trophy for the best record in the league, barring some unexpected disaster. From the Atlantic Division, you would also have to say that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning look set to round out the top 3.

There is a really good battle for top spot in the Metropolitan Division, with the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils separated by just 2 points. It is going to be fun to watch that battle in the final few weeks. The New York Rangers look to have done enough to secure the automatic playoff spot by finishing in the top 3.

Down in the Wild Card, it is the New York Islanders and Florida Panthers who are currently in, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are just 1 point off the pace. The Penguins are slumping, though, and need to snap out of it if they want to get in.

Western Conference

Things are a good deal tighter in the West, so let’s get things started by taking a look at the Central Division. We have the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild sitting on 90 points, with the Colorado Avalanche just 2 points behind. That top 3 looks set, but how they finish up is what remains to be seen.

It’s equally as tight in the Pacific Division, where the Vegas Golden Knights and LA Kings are separated by 2 points. The Edmonton Oilers are in 3rd there, but they are far enough off the pace that closing the gap with so few games remaining is going to be tough. The Oilers could still potentially be dragged down into the Wild Card race, but they have won 4 in a row and look set to finish strong.

The two Wild Card spots are currently filled by the Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets, but they are far from safe. The Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators are both within striking distance, and I would not count out the Flames from finishing strong and moving up into one of those Wild Card spots.
