NHL Stanley Cup 2022-2023: Futures Betting Odds

Written by on December 5, 2022

With the NHL schedule now into December and the league sorting itself out, we’re going to look at the current Stanley Cup futures odds. We’ll give you our favorites, the smart pick, and our long shot who could win the greatest trophy in all of sports when the dust settles on the 2022-23 season.

Stanley Cup Favorites

Colorado Avalanche (+480)

Preseason favorites and defending champions, the Colorado Avalanche, remain among the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, currently listed at +480 odds to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

Don’t let the Avs’ current record of 13-8-1 deceive you: Colorado is still a force in the Western Conference. The Avs will welcome Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin back to the lineup soon. At the same time, they have found a number-one goaltender in Alexandar Georgiev, who could lead them to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.

Boston Bruins (+560)

The Boston Bruins are the best team in hockey, with a 20-3-0 record. You don’t need to watch much Bruins hockey to see how good they are. Boston at +560 to win the Stanley Cup seems like a steal if the Bruins continue their early season form.

If the playoffs started today, the Bruins would undoubtedly be the favorite to win the Stanley Cup. The Bruins have all the pieces required to make another deep run into the playoffs and could be drinking from Lord Stanley’s Cup for the first time since 2011.

Smart Picks

Vegas Golden Knights (+770)

The Vegas Golden Knights are much healthier than last season and have a successful, unexpected goaltending solution to what appeared to be a major issue.

Jack Eichel has been excellent for Vegas, while third-string preseason goalie Logan Thompson has led Vegas’ goaltending tandem, which was a significant concern for the Golden Knights before the season began.

Vegas has all the tools to make a deep run into the playoffs and could bring the Stanley Cup home for a party unlike any other on the Vegas Strip.

New Jersey Devils (+1050)

You might want to get on the New Jersey Devils bandwagon. As of publication, the Devils have a 20-4-1 record and have been the talk of the NHL so far in 2022-23. As the Devils continue to impress people and turn them into believers, New Jersey will start seeing more money on future betting lines to win the Stanley Cup.

Get in on the Devils before their odds drop below four digits, and they are firmly among the Stanley Cup favorites. Believe the hype: the New Jersey Devils are for real and are genuine Stanley Cup contenders.

Long Shots

Winnipeg Jets (+2400)

Connor Hellebuyck looks like the Vezina Trophy winner he is, and the Jets are a refreshed and revitalized crew compared to last season. Yes, for the Winnipeg Jets to win the Stanley Cup, they’ll likely have to go through Colorado and Dallas to get there. However, the Jets are good enough to beat the Avalanche or Stars in a seven-game series.

Carolina Hurricanes (+1425)

The Carolina Hurricanes were among the Stanley Cup preseason favorites to win the Metropolitan division and chase the Stanley Cup after significant off-season moves. The Hurricanes haven’t lived up to those expectations yet, but they are still talented, a great hockey team, and good enough to win the Stanley Cup when they put all facets of their game together.

The Hurricanes’ early performances in 2022-23 have their Stanley Cup odds lower than anticipated and could pay out big in June.

Seattle Kraken (+2500)

While the New Jersey Devils have stolen the headlines as the biggest surprise of the 2022-23 season, the Seattle Kraken has quietly had a great season in the Pacific Northwest. As of publication, the Kraken has a 15-6-3 record, and Matty Beniers is having a breakout season.

The Kraken have a real chance of coming out of the Pacific division and could upset the Vegas Golden Knights in the process. Will it be shocking if the Kraken makes the playoffs? No.

Will it be a fascinating underdog story if the Kraken hoist the Stanley Cup in June? Absolutely.

The Seattle Kraken might be the underdog, but they have impressed in the first part of the season and could be the longshot to win it all in 2022-23.
