Clippers vs Suns NBA Betting Lines & Pick for Week 11

It would have been a star-studded matchup from the NBA’s Western Conference on Wednesday night between the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns if all the key guys played, but Kevin Durant will not and thus the Clippers are favored on the NBA odds. Still a very good matchup. 2024 NBA Expert Analysis LA vs. Phoenix | MyBookie Sportsbook NBA Week 11

Season Series

Somehow, Wednesday is the first of four meetings between the clubs this season. The Suns and Clippers split the regular season series last year with the road team coming away in each of the four games. Of course, Suns star Kevin Durant was teammates with Clippers guards Russell Westbrook and James Harden in Oklahoma City and later was teammates with Harden in Brooklyn. Suns guard Eric Gordon had two stints with the Clippers, appearing in 218 games and averaging 17.4 points. The Suns lead the all-time series 137-98 and 81-36 as the home team.

Why Bet on Los Angeles Clippers?

The Clippers won their third in a row Monday, 121-104 against Miami as LA opened the new year where they left off after going 11-2 in December for the West’s best record during the month. James Harden had a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists in just 31 minutes. He recently also surpassed Lenny Wilkens for sole possession of 16th place on the NBA’s all-time assists list.

“It’s better when you try to figure it out winning than trying to figure out losing. That’s what was happening earlier,” Harden said, referring to the team’s six-game skid in November. “Every single game, we’re trying to find ways to win games. Then towards the end of the season we’ll understand what we’re really good at and what we’re not.”

Kawhi Leonard had 24 points, six rebounds and five assists. After missing the previous four games with a left hip injury, Leonard took a bit to get going Monday, but he eventually came through with an efficient, all-around stat line while taking on a normal minutes load in his return to action. He also reached a major milestone in the fourth quarter, when his dunk early in the period gave him 13,000 career points.

Leonard has won 13 straight regular-season games against the Heat, who were without Jimmy Butler, Caleb Martin, Haywood Highsmith and Josh Richardson because of injuries.

“He’s one of the winningest players in league history during the regular season,” Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra said of Leonard before the game. “So if he’s healthy, he’s out there, he puts his team in a position to win… They’ve gotten their bleep together for the time being.”

Paul George finished Monday’s win with 23 points on 7-for-14 shooting. The return of Leonard made life a little easier for George offensively, as he shot 50% from the field on the night. In wins over Charlotte and Memphis, PG13 was a combined 18-of-46 from the field, scoring 48 points. Norman Powell shot 9-of-11 from the field for 22 points off the bench. They were the most points Powell has scored in a game this season and two more than his total in the Clippers’ prior two games.

Center Mason Plumlee (left MCL sprain) did not play in Monday’s win even though he was cleared to return from injury. Starting center Ivica Zubac (six points, 12 rebounds, and one assist) played 29 minutes, while Daniel Theis (six points and one rebound) logged 16 off the bench.

The Clippers rank seventh in the NBA in plus/minus differential (4.4) and eighth in steals per game (8.0). They are 144 at home this season, the fifth-best winning percentage on home court in the NBA. LAC is tied for sixth in the NBA at home in blocked shots (6.1) and 10th in plus/minus differential (6.9).

Why Bet on Phoenix Suns?

The Suns played without Kevin Durant on Monday but had little trouble beating Portland 109-88 for a fourth straight win. Durant scored 31 points in Sunday’s victory over Orlando, but coach Frank Vogel said he tweaked the hamstring late in the game. Durant has scored 25+ points in a franchise-record 20-straight games. He has scored 836 points in his first 28 games of the season, the most in franchise history through the first 28 games of a season and tied as the second-most through the first 28 in his career (also had 836 to open the 2021-22 season and trails his 840 to open last season). However, Durant will miss a second consecutive game with the hamstring issue and remains day-to-day.

The Suns allowed their lowest point total of the season vs. Portland. Bol Bol helped make up for Durant’s 10 absence with 11 points and nine rebounds. He had 19 total minutes coming into the night and more than doubled that on Monday. His only other rotation appearance featured lots of the basketball IQ and feel problems that have plagued him, a nod to his five fouls on the evening. Chimezie Metu got the start, though, and contributed 14 points and five rebounds.

“I want to credit our bench. … Credit those guys for staying ready,” Vogel said of the win. “We had some games over the course of this year when our bench got outplayed by the other team’s bench. Our bench tonight gets the game ball.”

Bradley Beal led the Suns with 21 points on Monday. Beal hasn’t been great when he has been on the floor this season, but he has put together two straight games with at least 20 points. He stepped up offensively with Devin Booker struggling (4-of-16 FGs, 10 points). The ended Booker’s streak of 13 straight games with at least 20 points and five assists. Booker is 1-of-3 players this season to rank in the top-11 in both scoring (11th) and assists (7th) .

“He changes everything,” center Jusuf Nurkic said of Beal, who returned last Friday from an ankle injury. “It’s simple. We depend on him. When he’s out there, it doesn’t matter what he does, just being out there makes a big difference for our team.”

Nurkic tallied 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting Monday night against Portland to go along with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a game-high 2 blocks. Nurkic entered the game having posted double-doubles in each of the last two games and four in the last eight. The Suns improved to 7-3 this season when he scores more than 15 points.

Grayson Allen added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting (2-of-5 3FG), 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals Monday. Allen has now scored 10+ points in a career-long 10 consecutive games, averaging 14.7 points on 55.3% shooting (43.4 3FG%) and 3.9 rebounds over that stretch. Allen is one of only three players in the NBA this season with at least 100 field goal attempts and shooting 50+ FG%, 40+ 3FG% and 90+ FT%, joining Kelly Olynyk and Naz Reid.

If the Suns host a sellout crowd at Footprint Center on Wednesday, it will mark their 100th consecutive home sellout in the regular season and playoffs combined since the streak began on Dec. 19, 2021. This would be the third Suns sellout streak to reach triple digits in franchise history.
