Why Bet on Patriots versus Cowboys
New England is much better than their 1-2 record indicates. The Patriots had a chance to upset the Eagles in a 25-20 loss in NFL Week 1.
Then in NFL Week 2, New England held Miami to 24 points in a 24-17 loss. In their third game, New England beat the Jets 15-10. Scoring 15 points against a Jets defense in terrible weather is a massive accomplishment.
So although based on records and stats, Dallas should win and cover, the Patriots have played well enough to at least keep the game close.

The Arizona Cardinals jumped out to a massive lead over the Cowboys because Dallas had to play for the first time on defense without Trevon Diggs. The electric cornerback suffered a season ending injury on the Thursday prior.
So Dan Quinn, Dallas’ defensive coordinator, didn’t have much time to adjust. Quinn has had an entire week to adjust to Mac Jones and the Patriots’ offense.
If Dallas’ D goes back to playing lock down football, the Cowboys can dominate.

There are plenty of storylines in this game. But two most important favor the Patriots. The first is can Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott beat Bill Belichick’s defense?
The answer is no. Prescott will struggle big time versus a Patriots defense that could get star cornerback Jonathan Jones back from injury. If Jones plays, Dak may end up tossing 2 picks instead of 1 because rookie Christian Gonalez on the other side has been fantastic.
The second storyline is can Jones and Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien beat the Dallas defense? The answer again is yes.
Dallas’ strategy on defense was to allow Diggs to take away the opposing teams top wide receiver. That won’t happen on Sunday. O’Brien and Jones will test Dallas’ secondary.
More importantly, O’Brien will force Quinn to make adjustments because although Micah Parsons is a great pass rusher, he doesn’t lock down on running backs. New England should have success moving the football against a Cowboys’ defense that will again struggle without Diggs. Patriots win straight up.
