Possible Super Bowl Matchups After Divisional Round Games

Written by on January 18, 2021

The Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs is over and done with, and it is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who come in as the lowest seeded team still alive. Outside of Brady and the Bucs, it is all #1 and #2 seeds who are still in with a shot at the Super Bowl, but who will eventually end up meeting in the championship game?  Will the Kansas City Chiefs get the chance to defend their crown, or will the upstart Buffalo Bills complete and improbable season? In the NFC, is Brady headed for another Super Bowl ring or will Aaron Rodgers put an exclamation point on what is sure to be an MVP season? Let’s take a closer look at the possible Super Bowl matchups so you can get all set and make your bets against their Super Bowl odds.

Kansas City Chiefs Vs Green Bay Packers

This would be a matchup of the top seeds in each conference, and therefore seems like the most likely Super Bowl pairing. The biggest question mark here is the health of Patrick Mahomes, who was forced out of the Divisional Round Game versus the Browns with a concussion. The early signs seem to suggest that he is ready to go. On the other side, the Packers looked very good in their win over the Rams and are, in the eyes of many, now the favorites to win.

Kansas City Chiefs Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

While it is still very early in Patrick Mahomes career, he is on a trajectory that could potentially have him in the discussion as the greatest of all time by the time he is ready to hang up the cleats. With that in mind, how cool would it be to see him go against the current GOAT in the Super Bowl. Time is running out on this meeting happening and it might well be a case of now or never. That alone is enough to make this potential Super Bowl matchup very tempting indeed.

Buffalo Bills Vs Green Bay Packers

Prior to the start of the season, these were a pair of teams who had potential, but also some question marks looming over them. With the Patriots and Tom Brady parting ways, the Bills looked like the team most likely to take over at the top of the AFC East. There were many who believed that QB Josh Allen was not the long-term solution, though, but that is now no longer an issue. In Green Bay, we all waited to see how Aaron Rodgers would react to the Packers moving up in the draft to get a QB. His numbers this season give you that answer.

Buffalo Bills Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the things that makes this potential Super Bowl matchup so interesting would be seeing Tom Brady go against a team that he dominated while still a part of the AFC East. There are some who will claim, probably incorrectly, that the Bills cannot exorcise the demons of the past few years until they beat a team with Tom Brady in the lineup. I do not buy into that at all, as the Buffalo Bills have looked great all season and would probably be here even if Brady was a part of the current Patriots lineup.
