Updated Most Likely Super Bowl 58 Matchups According to the Betting Odds

Heading into Week 14 of the season, we usually have a pretty solid idea of which teams are likely to be considered a serious threat to win the Super Bowl. MyBookie Sportsbook NFL Odds, American Football NFL Lines

Possible Matchups for next Super Bowl: Most obvious matchups

I’m not so sure we are there just yet this season. Yes, there are a few teams who look very good, but I don’t think there is any one team that has made a statement that would make them stand out from the pack. Add to that the fact that some teams who started the season as favorites are not looking anywhere near as good as we believed they would. Predicting which two teams will be in the Super Bowl this season is no easy feat, but let’s try our best to consider in your Super Bowl betting.

Miami Dolphins Vs Philadelphia Eagles

We have to start out by matching up the top teams in their respective conferences, although whether they are both still the top seeds at the end of the season remains to be seen. The Dolphins are 9-3 at the moment and looking good, but if there is a concern with this team, it’s that the games they have lost have come against teams that they might need to beat on their way to the Super Bowl. Their 6-2 conference record is solid, though, and their perfect home record makes them a prime pick.

The Eagles are the only teams in the league to have recorded double-digit wins to this point in the season. They are, though, coming off an absolute hammering at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, a team that they might well need to face in the postseason.

Baltimore Ravens Vs San Francisco 49ers

For now, the Ravens are very quickly becoming the team to watch in the AFC. They appear to be really well balanced on both sides of the football and have now moved to 9-3 on the season, which has them in total control of the North. They have made a habit of stumbling in the playoffs during the Lamar Jackson era, but this team still needs to be viewed as a potential threat to win it all.

It doesn’t seem so very long ago that we were questioning what is wrong with the 49ers. After a fast start, they went on a 3-game losing skid, but they have now snapped out of that and had a massive statement win over the Eagles last weekend. They seem to be gearing up at just the right time.

Kansas City Chiefs Vs Dallas Cowboys

You do have to say that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have not been at their best this season, but this is a team that you write off at your own peril. They have very little left to prove at this point and given what they have done in the playoffs during the Mahomes era, they are now known as a tried and tested playoff combatant.

If you want to talk about a team that appears to be shifting into high gear at just the right time, you need to talk about the Dallas Cowboys. They are now on a 4-game win streak that has them within striking distance of the #1 seed in the NFC. If they can land that top spot and get home field advantage, look out.

Possible Matchups for next Super Bowl: Those that are less likely to happen

At the beginning of this article, we looked at some potential Super Bowl matchups that would not be particularly surprising if they happened. And now, we are going to go with the less obvious matchups and might even include a team or two that is not even guaranteed to be in the playoffs. Very often in the past, we have seen a team getting hot at this stage of the season and riding that form into the postseason. Might we see that happen again this year? It’s tough to know for sure, but given the state of the divisions right now, we might well see a team get hot and nab a higher seed. With that in mind, let’s take a look at another batch of potential Super Bowl matchups.

Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Detroit Lions

A couple of years ago, you would have been laughed out of the room for suggesting that either of these teams would get anywhere near a championship. It doesn’t seem quite as ridiculous now, although these two still look a little way off from winning it all. The Jaguars have been very unpredictable at times this season, but they are 6-3 in conference play and absolutely cannot be counted out.

The Detroit Lions were the sexy dark horse pick for a lot of football fans heading into this season, and you have to say that they have done a pretty decent job of living up to the hype. They are 9-3 right now and in complete control of the NFC North, so I expect them to go into the postseason with a pretty decent seeding. Even if they do drop, they have been very good on the road, going 5-1 away from home.

Buffalo Bills Vs Green Bay Packers

Yes, this does seem a little ridiculous to have in this list, especially when you consider that neither team is guaranteed of a playoff spot. The Bills came into this season as one of the favorites to win it all, but they have seriously underwhelmed and would be out if the season ended today. This is still a very talented team, though, and it would not be surprising to see them close out the regular season on a hot streak.

The Packers are a definite longshot, but after what we have seen from them over the past couple of weeks, they might be that team that gets on a hot roll. They have won 3 in a row to get back to .500 and the final spot in the playoffs, with everything seemingly starting to click on offense. Very much a longshot, but one to watch.

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Atlanta Falcons

Okay, we are very much at the bottom of the longshot barrel right now, but let’s have a little bit of fun. The Steelers offense has been a nightmare all season long, yet they have still managed to get to 7-5 and are in the playoffs as of now. Their defense is solid and can turn games with timely turnovers, but it’s still asking a lot of this team to make the playoffs and go deep.

The Falcons are in a similar position to the Steelers, with the main difference being that they are #1 in their division, which is admittedly very weak. As we have always said in the past, though, just get into the postseason and see what happens. This is a matchup that will almost certainly not come to pass, but we couldn’t resist putting it in here.
