Mid-week Rumors for MLB Week 14

Mid-week Rumors for MLB Week 14

This week represents the last chance for teams to make up some ground in the playoff race before we head into the All-Star Break. During the time off, you can bet that every front office will be assessing where they are and whether or not moves need to be made before we get to the trade deadline, which is not just a few weeks away. We are in a bit of a calm before the storm, as things will almost certainly heat up once the break is over, and we head into the second half of the season. There will be plenty of rumors swirling then, and while things are relatively quiet right now, there is still some news to report, so let’s get into that. Here’s some other MLB betting news and happenings for Week 14 of the MLB season.

Mid-week Rumors for MLB Week 14 of the Season | MLB Regular Season by MyBookie

MLB Week 14: Monday July 3 – Sunday July 9, 2023

Angels Injury Concerns

If a team is going to experience injuries, then now is probably the best time for it to happen, as we have the break coming up at the end of this week. The Angels were hit hard this week, with Mike Trout added to the 10-day injury list with a broken wrist, which the team believes will not require surgery, but we are still waiting for more information. They also saw Anthony Rendon and Shohei Ohtani pulled with injuries. Ohtani was set to pitch in the All-Star Game, but it now appears as though he will not take part in that side of things.

All-Star Game Replacements

Fans get to vote on the players taking part in the All-Star Game, but every year, injury ends up seeing some of those selected unable to play die to injury or other issues. 4 players set to miss the big game are Yordan Alvarez, Shane McLanahan, Mike Trout, and Aaron Judge. Yesterday, the league announced the replacements for this missing stars, with Julio Rodriguez, George Kirby, Wander Franco, and Kyle Turner getting the nod. Those are some very decent replacements, but hopefully we won’t lose any more big names this week.

Manoah Back with the Jays

Back in the 2022 season, the future looked bright for Alek Manoah, who was voted into the All-Star Game that season, finishing the year with a 16-7 record and a 2.24 ERA. He struggled immensely this season, though, going 1-7 with a 6,36 ERA, which led to him being assigned to the minors back on June 6. After a rough start in the minors, Manoah settled in and looked strong in his last outing. He is expected to return to the Blue Jays today and might well get the starting gig on Friday.

The End of the Season for May

It has been a few rough seasons for Dodgers pitchers Dustin May, and things continue to get worse. His appearances were limited in the 2021 and 2022 season as he looked to recover from Tommy John surgery. The worst looked to be behind May, as he was putting together a decent season in 2023, going 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 9 starts, but injury has derailed this season. May will have surgery to repair a flexor tendon, which is a procedure that will have him out for the remainder of the season. We wish May a very speedy recovery.
