NFL New Orleans Saints Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

NFL New Orleans Saints Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

Last season the New Orleans Saints had a top-10 scoring defense, but managed just seven wins. That’s because their offense ranked just 22nd in scoring.

An upgrade at quarterback was in order, and now the Saints are led by Derek Carr, their best quarterback since Drew Brees retired. Andy Dalton is now the backup in Carolina, and Jameis Winston is the clear QB2 in New Orleans. This is Carr’s offense, and it will be him that determines its success.

Check out an in-depth NFL betting lines and analysis for the New Orleans Saints’ offense this season.

New Orleans Saints: 57th season in the NFL
Owner: Gayle Benson
Head Coach: Dennis Allen
Home Field: Caesars Superdome | New Orleans, Louisiana

Super Bowl Odds: +3500
NFC Conference Odds to Win: +1350
NFC South Odds to Win: +121

Offensive Rookie of the Year

Bijan Robinson (+250)
Bryce Young (+500)
Anthony Richardson (+750)
C.J. Stroud (+750)
Kendre Miller (+4000)

Derek Carr was the biggest offseason acquisition of the Saints this year, but the drafting of TCU running back Kendre Miller is also going to be impactful. Especially with Alvin Kamara facing a long suspension this season for assault charges stemming from an incident at the Pro Bowl in 2022.

Jamaal Williams will be the touchdown guy in New Orleans, but Miller was fifth in this draft class with 21 rushes for more than 15 yards last year. Along with his explosiveness is an innate ability to break tackles (he ranked first in the nation).

The first running back taken in the draft, Bijan Robinson, is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. But Miller was the fourth running back taken, and he is definitely one to watch.

Derek Carr Regular Season Passing Yards

Over 3800.5 (-110)
Under 3800.5 (-110)

Carr wasn’t great in Las Vegas last season, but statistically he wasn’t terrible. He still averaged 234.8 passing yards per start, which comes out to 3,991 yards over 17 games. He was benched for the Raiders final two games, so he finished below 3,800 passing yards.

But he was on pace to get there, and he did have six other seasons of over 3,800 passing yards. Prior to 2022 he had gone over 4,000 in four consecutive seasons, and was as high as 4,804 as recently as 2021.

This is all to say that the over on his passing yards in 2023 looks like a really good bet.

Chris Olave Regular Season Receiving Yards

Over 1000.5 (-110)
Under 1000.5 (-110)

Last year Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was voted as Offensive Rookie of the Year, but his college teammate, Chris Olave, was right on his heels. Olave finished fourth in voting, and in many other seasons, his numbers would have been good enough to win the award.

Olave finished 2022 with 72 receptions for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns. All of those stats were just a hair behind Wilson, and that was with Olave playing two fewer games than Wilson. He also bested Wilson with 14.5 yards per catch, as compared to 13.3 for Wilson.

Why would you expect to see Olave do anything less than he did in 2022? Even as Carr struggled, Davante Adams was huge last year. There is no reason to think that Olave won’t go over 1,000 yards in his second NFL season.
