But this offseason, Aaron Rodgers, maybe the greatest quarterback of all time without the last name Brady, decided to take his skills to New York and play with the Jets, which is why Green Bay isn’t the favorite to win the NFC North.

The chalk to win it all added superstar in the making, pass-catching running back Jahmyr Gibbs to what should be a loaded offense. Detroit has done it right by building a devastating offensive line to protect underrated quarterback Jared Goff and adding receiving talent.

Gibbs will be a great compliment to Amon-Ra St. Brown. When Jameson Williams returns from a gambling suspension, the Lions offense will be even more devastating.

The defense should have improved. So the Lions deserve their favorite status.

Minnesota Vikings +250

The Vikings played great football in 2022. The core of the team returns sans Dalvin Cook, who may or may not resign with Minnesota.

Cook’s replacement, Alexander Mattison, doesn’t have the experience that Dalvin possesses. It remains to be seen if Mattison can catch passes the way Dalvin could.

The Vikings also lost wide receiver Adam Thielen. Rookie Jordan Addison is going to have to step it up to take some pressure off Justin Jefferson.

The defense isn’t special, which could be a problem.

Chicago Bears +430

Justin Fields and the offense could step it up big time in 2023. No doubt, Fields took a huge leap in his second season as a starter. Chicago’s offense will be strong for sure.

Ah, but the Monsters of the Midway are no more. Da Bears’ D is a disaster and it doesn’t appear the team did much of anything to improve on the defensive side of the ball.

Green Bay’s the longest shot on the board for a simple reason. Aaron Rodgers is playing for the Jets.

If quarterback Jordan Love steps it up, the Packers should be a good team. Love has a great receiver target in Christian Watson. Also, Aaron Jones is a good running back and the offensive line is solid.

The defense will be decent. So the pressure is on Love. If Jordan performs, GB will surprise.

NFC North Analysis:
Most NFL Draft analysts decried the Lions choosing Jahmyr Gibbs over the defenders left on the board. But although Detroit required help on the defensive side, Gibbs will take the Lions’ offense to another level.

Detroit should be one of the highest-scoring teams in the league. Also, the defense will be better than it was last season because rookie linebacker Jack Campbell, another first round draft pick, is a star in the making.

Campbell will back Aidan Hutchinson, who had 34 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions as an edge rusher last season. Hutchinson is already one of the best defensive ends in the league.

For second, we’re going with Green Bay. Jordan Love has the makings of a solid NFL starter. If Love comes through, the Packers will challenge the Lions.

Minnesota should finish fourth. The Vikings have more talent than Chicago. So Minny gets it done before the Bears. But it will be close. If Chicago’s defense comes together, the Bears could finish third ahead of Minnesota.
