Rundown of Current NFL Props you can Bet on during the Postseason

The opening weekend of the NFL playoffs is upon us, and while the #1 seeds in each conference get to chill and watch the proceedings, we are going to have 12 other teams fighting for their lives this weekend, knowing full well that a loss means the end of their season.

There is always pressure in the NFL, but at this stage of the season, the needle moves into the red zone, with the teams that can handle the pressure the best being the most likely being the ones that will move on.

Current NFL Props Analysis

Wild Card Weekend is a great time for bettors, which leads us to the purpose of this piece, which is to look at the current NFL props bets that are going to be coming your way this weekend, as well as through the remainder of the playoffs, so let’s break it all down into 3 distinct sections.

Current NFL Props: Game and Player Props

While all the attention this weekend, and rightly so, will be on the playoff games, there is one prop available that has nothing to do with the postseason. We are, of course, talking about the MVP, which goes to the best player in the regular season. Right now, it is Josh Allen (-549) that is the clear favorite to win. He is followed by Lamar Jackson (+265) and Saquon Barkley (+6600). Looking at those odds, it appears to be a slam dunk for Allen, although there is certainly not a ton of value in those odds as they stand now.

OVER/UNDER

Within each game, there are going to be plenty of props to choose from. We are talking about things like the OVER/UNDER on yards gained. A lot of the focus here, as you would imagine, is on the offensive players. You will be able to wager on things like then total yards, not just by individual players, but also team totals. This can add a definite fun element to a game, especially if you think it’s one that might not be as competitive as the rest.

Quarter Total

Many of us simply focus on the final result when making our wagers, and it can be easy to forget that we essentially have 4 individual little games going on within the game. Betting on the quarter totals is also a fun bet and can be used as part of your in-game live betting strategy. You might look at a scoreless first quarter and imagine that the game is going to be a defensive battle, but what if teams are driving and turning the ball over? That might indicate that points are coming, which could allow you to adjust and potentially make some money on the remainder of the game by playing the OVER in the 2nd quarter and beyond.

Live betting

This is a great way to play any game, but especially in the postseason. Quite often, we will see an underdog come out early and perform well, but we get the sense that it might not last. There tends to be momentum shifts in games, and you can make some money by anticipating those shifts and getting your wager in before they happen.

Current NFL Props: Wild Card Props

This weekend, we have 6 games to choose from between Saturday and Sunday, and while there are certainly not as many games as we would see in the regular season, there is still plenty of opportunity to get in on some fantastic props for these games. With that in mind, let’s look at those props, as well as the current odds that are on the bookies board.

Highest Scoring Game

The first one to look at is the highest scoring game during Wild Card Weekend. There are a couple that immediately look as though they could well be a defensive battle with the Ravens/Steelers at the top of that list. AFC North games tend to be hard-hitting, low-scoring affairs, so it would make sense that this one could be on the low end of the scale. The bookies have this one at +500 in the highest scoring prop, while the Buccaneers and Commanders game is the favorite to be the highest scoring at odds of +200.

High Score

If we stick with highest scoring, the next question is in regard to the team that scores the most points. Is there an obvious mismatch on the schedule this weekend, as that might lead you pick one team over another. The Buffalo Bills (+300) are the favorites to score the most points this weekend, while the Ravens are also there at (+400), which seems odd when you consider that their game against the Steelers is considered to be among the lowest scoring. Of course, you can flip these and wager on the lowest scoring game and the lowest scoring team.

Blowouts

There doesn’t tend to be a huge difference between the teams heading into the playoffs in terms of talent, but there are a few who seem better equipped to make a deep postseason run. With that in mind, there is always the chance that we could see a blowout or two this weekend. Once again, it is the Steelers/Ravens game that the bookies believe to be the most likely blowout, which is fair when you consider how poor the Steelers offense has looked over the past month. The odds of that being the biggest blowout game are at +175, while the Bills/Broncos is at +200. The bookies believe that the Rams/Vikings game is the least likely blowout at odds of +1200.

Closest Game

On the flipside of that previous bet, we also have a prop for the closest game of the Wild Card Weekend. It is the matchup between the Vikings and the Rams that the bookies see as the most likely to be close, and they have that matchup in at odds of +250. There is also a belief that the Texans and Chargers might be a close battle, with the bookies setting the odds for that game at +250.

Current NFL Props: Super Bowl Props

It is a little tough to talk about Super Bowl props right now, but we can talk about one that you can absolutely play now, while also talking about some of the props that will become available once the big game rolls around. The obvious prop bet for the Super Bowl right now is to try and determine which two teams will be representing their respective conferences in the championship game.

Potential Matchups

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the odds for the potential Super Bowl matchups. It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that a matchup between the two #1 seeds, the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lionss, is seen as the most likely, with the odds for that set at +420. After that, you have the Lions and Ravens in at odds of +700, with a Bills/Lions matchup set at +750. This alone lets you know that the Lions appear to be the team to beat in the NFC by quite a wide margin. According to the bookies, the least likely matchup, at odds of +6000, is the Steelers versus the Commanders.

Chiefs and Lions

If you think you know which teams will make it in, you can then play a prop bet to wager on the outcome. In the eyes of the bookies, there are a couple of potential outcomes that seem more likely than the rest. We have the Chiefs beating the Lions and Lions beating the Chiefs at odds of +1000. It is worth noting, though, that if you already have money on a specific team to win the Super Bowl, go with that pick and try to determine who they might beat. For example, if you chose the Buffalo Bills to win it all, then you might want to take the Bills to beat the Lions at odds of +1400.

Big Game Props

We will have more information as soon as we know the teams involved in the Super Bowl, but there are always a ton of fun prop bets for the big game. Again, we will take a deeper dive into those props at a later date, but you can always count on things like the coin toss, the length of the National Anthem, the game MVP, and a host of other fun props available to you in the days leading up to the Super Bowl. This, though, is your time to build that bankroll so that you can have a lot more betting fun once the big game does come around.
