Steelers roll Browns, become third choice from the AFC to win the Super Bowl

The rival Cleveland Browns entered Pittsburgh with high hopes. The Browns had dominated four straight teams behind the most fearsome rushing attack in football. Cleveland had the top rated rushing attack in the NFL heading into their Sunday matchup with the Steelers.

Pittsburgh, because they’re solid across the board, showed the Browns what it means to play defense. The Steelers shut down both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Kareem rushed for 40 yards on 13 carries, a 3.1 per carry average, while Chubb didn’t get a carry.

The reason Chubb didn’t get his hands on the ball is because Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield helped the Steelers to a huge 27-7 halftime lead. Baker threw two picks, one which Steelers’ defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick ran in for a touchdown.

The loss proved that the Steelers’ defense can be effective against any team. It also proved that Cleveland can’t count on Baker to win football games for them. Cleveland’s odds rose to +4000, the Steelers’ odds fell to +900.

Buccaneers shoot Packers from the sky

Green Bay’s odds to win the Super Bowl went from +800 to +900. The move wasn’t nearly as significant as some thought it would be after watching Aaron Rodgers throw two interceptions and play like Baker Mayfield against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa has a solid defense, but we shouldn’t read too much into the 38-10 win over the Packers. Rodgers had one of the worst days of his career. He completed just 16-of-35 for 160 yards and didn’t throw a TD pass.

Brady completed just 17-of-27 for 166 yards. So, Green Bay’s loss was a total team effort. Tampa dropped their Week 5 game to Chicago, which means the Bucs aren’t as awesome as the score indicates while the Packers aren’t as bad.

Seahawks still the biggest underlay, here’s why

Seattle had a bye, which might be why their odds dropped to +650 from +800. The undefeated Seahawks have looked strong so far in five wins. Seattle backers have plenty to worry about, though.

First, the team ranks dead last in passing yards allowed. That’s a problem. Second, although they’re undefeated at 5-0, Seattle has yet to play a division opponent. Wins against the Falcons, Patriots, Dolphins, Cowboys, and Vikings doesn’t impress as much as if the Seahawks had beaten the Rams and 49ers twice and a team like the Saints, Bucs, or even Bears once.

Let’s hold off on anointing undefeated Seattle the NFC’s best just yet. The Seahawks are at the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. That won’t be an easy game for Russell Wilson and his mates. Wait until seeing how Seattle plays on the road against a team like the Cardinals before backing them to win the Super Bowl.
