Mahomes makes the list at No. 8 even after tossing an uncharacteristic three interceptions in Chiefs’ hard-fought 33-27 road win over the dangerous Miami Dolphins. Mahomes passed for a league-high 393 yards with two TD passes while coming alive in the second half to lead the streaking Chiefs to their eighth straight win.
No. 7 Baker Mayfield – QB – Cleveland
After topping the Week 14 offensive player rankings, Baker Mayfield acquitted himself well, even in Cleveland’s crushing 47-42 home loss against Baltimore. The former Heisman winner passed for 343 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and now, Cleveland’s offense looks balanced and dangerous heading into week 15!
No. 6 Jonathan Taylor – RB – Indianapolis
I’ve touted the former Wisconsin superstar as a potential perennial Pro Bowler after he ran roughshod over everyone at the collegiate level for three straight years. Taylor has his best performance on his rookie campaign by rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Over his last five games, Taylor has rushed for 370 yards while averaging 5.0 yards per carry!
No. 5 Stefon Diggs – WR – Buffalo
While Josh Allen was solid under center while playing mistake-free football in Buffalo’s stunning 26-15 smackdown of Pittsburgh last weekend, it was perennial Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs that the Steelers really had no answer for. The former Minnesota Vikings star caught 10 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown while repeatedly beating Pittsburgh’s defense whether they were in zone or man-on-man coverage. Diggs heads into Week 15 leading the league in receptions (100) while ranking third in receiving yards (1,167).
No. 4 Cam Akers – RB – LA Rams
LA’s second round pick out of Florida State looked like a flat-out star while running over, around and through New England’s defense en route to a stellar 171 yards last weekend. Akers has averaged a healthy 4.8 yards per carry this season and suddenly looks like a star just waiting to explode!
No. 3 Aaron Rodgers – QB – Green Bay
The 37-year-old Rodgers had a ho-hum, 290-yard, three touchdown passing day while leading Green Bay to a hard-fought 31-24 win over the division rival Lions on Sunday. Rodgers has thrown 10 TD passes and no picks the last three weeks while throwing at least three TD passes in four straight games. Don’t look now, but Rodgers is leading the MVP conversation.
No. 2 Derrick Henry – RB – Tennessee
I’m just going to come out and admit it. There’s no amount of money in the world you could pay me to try to stop Tennessee Titans superstar running back Derrick Henry! The reigning rushing champ just overpowered Jacksonville’s pitiful defense en route to a stunning 215 rushing yards and two touchdowns while averaging a jaw-dropping 8.2 yards per carry. Henry leads the league in rushing yards (1,532) and is tied for first in touchdowns (14).
No. 1 Jalen Hurts – QB – Philadelphia
Yes, Jalen Hurts is a rookie and yes, he just made his first NFL start. However, the former Alabama and Oklahoma star looked like he was exactly where he belonged after leading Philadelphia to a stunning 24-21 upset win over a New Orleans Saints team that had won nine straight prior to last weekend. Hurts passed for 167 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions while adding 106 rushing yards on 18 carries. More importantly, his presence in the lineup and ability to extend plays – lifted an entire Eagles team that entered the Week 14 matchup beaten and battered, making his performance, the No. 1 offensive outing of any player in the league last weekend!
