NFL Washington Commanders Calendar Betting Odds & Analysis

NFL Washington Commanders Calendar Betting Odds & Analysis

Let’s make no bones about it. Daniel Snyder has been a terrible owner. He took one of the proudest franchises in the NFL, and turned it into a punchline incapable of winning a playoff game. Since he took over in 1999, they have exactly two Wild Card wins, and nothing more.

His tenure is now coming to a close, and the future for the Commanders is bright. The grass is a little greener, the fans are a little louder, and the football in D.C. is about to get better.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2023 version of the Washington Commanders so you can start planning your bets against their NFL lines.

Washington Commanders | 92nd season as a member of the National Football League
Owner: Daniel Snyder
Head coach: Ron Rivera
Home field: FedExField | Landover, Maryland

Super Bowl Champions (+6500)

Getting rid of Snyder won’t pay immediate dividends on the field. Washington is still a big longshot to win the Super Bowl, paying as much as the Rams, Giants, Patriots, and Raiders. But if all goes according to plan, this will be the final year that Washington begins the season with no hope for a championship.

NFC Champions (+4000)

There aren’t a lot of potential champions currently in the NFC, but the Commanders aren’t expected to seriously compete. At +4000 there are 11 teams in the conference with shorter odds to win the conference and play in the Super Bowl.

NFC East Champions (+1100)

There are a couple of divisions in the NFC that are short on talent. Unfortunately for the Commanders, they play in the best division in the conference.

The Eagles are on top, having just been within one possession of winning the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are next, and also have dreams of making it to the big game this year in Las Vegas. And even the third place Giants were in the playoffs last season. It would be a huge upset if the Commanders finish in the top two.

Commanders Win Total (6.5)

Despite a fourth place schedule, the Commanders have one of the harder paths in 2023. Using projected wins for 2023, Washington has the ninth hardest schedule in the NFL. Such is the luck of having to play the AFC East this season, and facing the Eagles and Cowboys twice.

The Commanders won eight games last season, but that included wins over the Texans, Colts, and Jaguars. This year they get the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins. Last year they also split with both the Eagles and Cowboys, which will be hard to replicate in 2023.

Weekly Commanders Betting

Betting on Washington last season was like ordering vanilla pudding every week. They were 8-8-1 straight up, 8-8-1 against the spread, and 4-4-1 at home against the spread. As a home favorite, 2-2. As a home underdog, 2-2-1.

The only place where they were interesting was on the under, which hit in 12 of 17 games. As up and down as the Commanders were, the defense was reliable.

Looking ahead to this season’s schedule, Washington is the favorite in just two of their 17 games – Week 1 at home against the Cardinals, and at home in Week 5 against the Bears. Even in the games that are easier on the schedule, like at the Patriots and Rams, Washington is the underdog.
