Minnesota Vikings 2023 Season Home/Away Betting Guide

The Vikings are the defending champions in the NFC North, and they just added another big-time weapon at the NFL Draft in wide receiver Jordan Addison from USC. The excitement for the new season is growing, and it will be at a fever pitch by the time we hit September.

We will now give you a brief betting Home/Away analysis of each of the Vikings opponents for the 2023 season before the NFL betting lines to win the Super Bowl go out.

2023 Minnesota Vikings Home/Away Betting Analysis

Minnesota Vikings: 63rd season in the NFL
Owner: Zygi Wilf
Head Coach: Kevin O’Connell
Home Field: U.S. Bank Stadium | Minneapolis, Minnesota

NFC North

The Minnesota Vikings will be forgiven for feeling a little disrespected by the nation’s oddsmakers. They are the defending champions in the NFC North, but the Detroit Lions are the preseason favorites. The two teams split last year, but Minnesota has won nine of its last 11 games against Detroit.

Along with two games against the Lions, Minnesota has a pair of games with Chicago, a team they swept in each of the last two years, and two games with the Packers. The two teams have split the series in each of the last two years, but that was against Aaron Rodgers. Now that Green Bay is starting Jordan Love at quarterback, they are picked to finish last in the division.

NFC Opponents

A big plus for the Vikings this year is that they get to play the entire NFC South, the worst division in football in 2022. And all four of the teams in the South are starting new quarterbacks this season.

At home, Minnesota plays the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which means Derek Carr for the Saints, and not-Tom Brady for the Bucs. Brady was 6-0 in his career against Minnesota, so no longer having to play him is good news for Vikings fans.

On the road the Vikings will get the Atlanta Falcons and their new running back, Bijan Robinson, as well as the Carolina Panthers and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young.

The other two NFC matchups will present some challenges for Minnesota. They get the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFC champions, on the road, and the San Francisco 49ers, the NFC runner-ups, at home.

Facing the AFC West

Last season the Vikings faced an AFC gauntlet against the East, with tough games at Buffalo and Miami, and home games against the Patriots and Jets. Add in a fifth game against the Colts, and even with the tough schedule, Minnesota went a perfect 5-0 against the AFC.

Another perfect season out-of-conference will be a tall order. The extra fifth game this season is at Cincinnati, with the other four games coming against the AFC West.

That means the Vikings defense needs to hold up against Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Joe Burrow. They do at least get the Chiefs and Chargers at home, but that means trips to Denver and Las Vegas. It is true that the Broncos have been down the last few years, but Mile High Stadium is always a tough place to play, and now Sean Payton is their head coach.

The last time Minnesota faced Sean Payton, the Saints beat them 52-33 on Christmas Day.

The Vikings are the only team in the NFL that Patrick Mahomes has yet to play and beat. Joe Burrow beat Minnesota in 2021 in his only game against the Vikings. Justin Herbert lost to the Vikings in 2021 in his only game against them.
