NFL Atlanta Falcons Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

NFL Atlanta Falcons Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

Like the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Falcons made enough changes, especially on offense, to become an NFC South Division contender this season.

The ATL was a borderline playoff team last season. This season, Atlanta fans expect the Southern Birds to make the NFL postseason.

Falcons’ Offensive Changes during the Offseason

Mike Smith, Atlanta’s head coach, used to call plays for the Tennessee Titans. Smith knows how to build an offense. Drafting quarterbacks Desmond Ridder and wide receiver Drake London last season was a step in the right direction.

This season, Smith drafted one of the best overall players in the draft, Texas running back Bijan Robinson. Then in the second round, the Falcons added a first round talented player in Syracuse left guard Matthew Bergeron.

Atlanta Falcons Offensive Line Analysis

Last season, the offensive line was stellar. The Falcons averaged 160 rushing yards per game, ranking third in the NFL.

This season, the ATL could rank first in rushing yards each contest. Rookie left guard Matthew Bergeron was one of the top O-line players in the league. Bergeron is an addition to an already stellar line. So Atlanta’s O-line could become even more elite than it already is.

Atlanta Falcons Wide Receivers Room Analysis

For a rookie, London had a fantastic season. Drake played in all 17 games, meaning he didn’t suffer an injury, a big deal for rookies.

London caught 72 passes for 866 yards and scored 4 TDs playing in a run first system. Drake is on the cusp of being elite.

Tight-end Kyle Pitts is already Elite. Pitts played in just 10 games last season. But he’s already on his way back and should be one-hundred percent by NFL Week 1.

Atlanta Falcons Running Backs Room Analysis

Bijan Robinson, if he doesn’t suffer an injury, has a chance to be this season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Robinson might be the most talented RB to come out of college since Adrian Peterson.

Tyler Allgeier rushed for over 1,000 yards and close to 5 yards per carry. Allgeier is one of the top backups in the league and will get plenty of carries on Sundays to satisfy his fantasy owners.

Atlanta Points Scored & Yards Per Game Range Prediction

The Falcons could improve upon their 160 years per game rushing average. Robinson is an elite talent, one of the top running backs in the league already. Smith’s offensive system revolves around the rushing attack.

So we should expect the Falcons to land in the top three in rushing yards per game again. Last season, the ATL averaged 318.8 yards per game. The average should rise to at least 360. We must assume quarterback Desmond Ridder improves to 200 passing yards per game on average.

So let’s peg the Falcons for 360 to 370 yards each contest. Atlanta will also average more points per game. Last year’s average was 21.5. Let’s go with 24 to 27 this season.
Massive improvement? Yes, but with this offense, it is possible.

Falcons Yard Per Game Range: 360 – 370

Falcons Points Scored Range: 24 – 27

Quarterback Desmond Ridder to Win MVP: +15000

Analysis: Ridder would have to take a massive leap forward, massive, to win the NFL MVP. It could happen, but it won’t because he won’t have the stats.

So Ridder could take the leap as a quarterback, but he still won’t win the NFL MVP. But if you’re an ATL fan, why not?

Running Back Bijan Robinson to Win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: +250

Analysis: Robinson is the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He should do it, to be honest. So if you don’t mind the odds, or if you’re a Falcons’ fan, then go for it.
