2023 Carolina Panthers Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

NFL Carolina Panthers Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

Last year the Panthers finished as the 20th ranked scoring team in the NFL, and the 28th best passing offense. The defense almost played them into an NFC South division championship, but the offense was simply not good.

In comes new head coach Frank Reich, a former quarterback, offensive coordinator, and head coach of the Colts. And in comes the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, new quarterback Bryce Young, the Heisman Trophy winner in 2021 at Alabama.

Check out an in-depth NFL betting lines and analysis for the Carolina Panthers‘ offense.

Offensive Rookie of the Year

The success of the Panthers rests on the shoulders of their new QB, who is currently paying +450 to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He trails running back Bijan Robinson, who has gone from the Texas Longhorns to the Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons love to run the football, and they are very good at it. So making Robinson the favorite makes sense. But quarterback is the most important position in any sport, and if Young can make noise in Carolina, he will be hard to ignore.

Young also has the advantage of Reich as his head coach. Philip Rivers had a career-high 4,792 yards with Reich as his offensive coordinator, and Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate when Reich was his OC.

Offensive Rookie of the Year
Bijan Robinson (+300)
Bryce Young (+450)
C.J. Stroud (+650)
Anthony Richardson (+700)
Jahmyr Gibbs (+800)

Bryce Young Stat Props

While the overall success of Young’s first year in the league will be decided by the competitiveness of the Panthers in the NFC South, his statistics will also tell part of the story. It’s also what we wager.

Total Passing Yards in 2023: 3,299.5
Over (-115)
Under (-115)

Last year Kenny Pickett led all rookie quarterbacks with 2,404 yards. So with that as the measuring stick, getting to 3,300 yards for Bryce Young will be quite a challenge. But in 2021, Mac Jones threw for 3,801 yards and Trevor Lawrence had 3,641 yards. Both of them were Week 1 starters, and better reflect what we can expect to see from Young this season.

Total Passing Touchdowns in 2023: 22.5
Over (+120)
Under (-150)

Looking again at 2021, Jones threw 22 touchdown passes that season, and Lawrence had just 17. So with 22 as the high that we’ve seen from a rookie in the last two years, you can see why the over on 22.5 for Young is paying +120. History tells us that he’s more likely to go under.

Most Regular Season Rushing Yards

Frank Reich and Bryce Young are the two most important additions to the Panthers offense this offseason, but number three on that list is running back Miles Sanders.

The former Eagles is paying +2000 to lead the NFL in rushing yards in the coming season, which ranks him 10th on the favorites list behind Jonathan Taylor, Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, and six others.

Sanders is a longshot to win the rushing title, but consider that at this time last year Josh Jacobs was paying +4000 to lead the NFL rushing, and was ranked behind 15 other backs.
