NFL Week 17 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on December 23, 2019

We still have a very important Monday night game to come in Week 16, but once that is over, the final week of the regular season will be upon us. It says a lot about the parity in this league that we still have division winners and playoff spots to be decided, so we can probably expect there to be a whole world of drama next weekend, with some playoff heats sure to be broken.

This may actually be the toughest week of the season to handicap, especially when you consider the number of games on the schedule that have playoff implications. Still, we have made our picks every single week of the season, so we are not stopping now for NFL Week 17. Let’s get things started with our Week 17 ATS NFL Betting picks.

2019 NFL Week 17 ATS Betting Picks

Cleveland Browns (-2 ½) vs Cincinnati Bengals

When you talk about the seasons that every team had had, it’s all about perspective. We all had an idea that the Bengals would struggle, although perhaps not quite as much as they eventually did. The Browns are a totally different matter, though, as the belief was that they would be a playoff team this season.

As it is, they are probably looking at another coaching and personnel upheaval this offseason. These two will face off in the final game of the regular season, and when you consider that the Browns are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against divisional foes, you would like them to cover a manageable spread.

NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Browns are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against an opponent in the AFC North division
  • Bengals are 13-7 ATS in their last 20 games played in December

Miami Dolphins (+16) vs New England Patriots in NFL Week 17

This is one of those games where you would expect a blowout, but I’m not so sure that we get it. Yes, the Patriots need to win to ensure an opening round bye, but if they can get the job done early in this one, you might expect them to start pulling some of their key players.

As bad as the Dolphins have been at times this season, they are still a team that can put some points on the board. They have covered the spread in 8 of their last 11 games, and while they have failed to cover in their last 7 visits to New England, I think they break that losing trend.

NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Dolphins are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games when playing on the road against New England
  • Patriots are 12-6 ATS in their last 18 games played in December

Washington Redskins (+10 ½) vs Dallas Cowboys

We have reached the stage of the season where the Dallas Cowboys have made it impossible to have any sort of faith in their ability to consistently win football games. Their loss to the Eagles in Week 16 means that they need to win here and hope for an Eagles loss.

The Cowboys are favorites for NFL Week 17 against the Redskins.

Given that the Cowboys are 8-2 SU in their last 10 meetings with the Redskins, they seem like a good bet to win, but is anyone outside of Arlington convinced that they can do so in the convincing style required to cover this spread? I’m not, so I am taking Washington to cover.

NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Redskins are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games against an opponent in the NFC East division
  • Cowboys are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games played in week 17

Philadelphia Eagles (-4 ½) vs New York Giants in NFL Week 17

It’s hard to argue that the Philadelphia Eagles has the biggest win in Week 16, as their victory over the Dallas Cowboys now gives the Eagles an inside track to the postseason as NFC East champions.

The only thing standing in their way is a trip to New York to face a Giants team closing out what has been a very poor season. The Eagles have won in each of their last 6 games against the Giants, and while covering the spread has not been their thing in those outings, I believe that they cover her and win their way into the postseason.

NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games played in week 17
  • Giants are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games played in December
