Raiders vs Broncos Odds, Game Pick and Prediction NFL Week 1

The outcome of the regular season is not determined in the opening weekend of the year, but every team will tell you that it’s important to get out to a strong start. Week 1 of the NFL season has finally arrived, with every team starting out on level footing, at least in terms of their respective win/loss records. That will all start to change as the weeks progress and the contenders begin to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Getting a win in the opening week certainly helps to build confidence, and with the Raiders and Broncos undergoing some big changes in the offseason, they will both be looking to jump out to a positive start. This is a tough road trip for the Raiders, who head to an always tough Mile High Stadium as a 3 ½ point underdog. Don’t miss our NFL betting preview of this Sunday game.

Why bet on the Las Vegas Raiders

The last couple of years have not been particularly kind to the Raiders, as they moved out of Oakland and headed for the bright lights of Las Vegas, only to undergo a ton of drama that ended with them looking for a new head coach. Shipping out QB Derek Carr in the offseason felt like the last cut of the old era, and they come into the new season with renewed hope and perennial winner Jimmy G under center. This is certainly a matchup that has been kind to the Raiders in the past, as they have won 8 of their last 10 meetings with the Broncos, which includes a 6-game winning streak against Denver. They have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 visits to the Mile High Stadium, with the UNDER hitting in 5 of their last 6 road games overall.

Why bet on the Denver Broncos

Much like the Raiders, Denver made some big changes this offseason, with former Saints head coach Sean Payton now in charge. It has not exactly been smooth sailing, as Payton seems to be ruffling some feathers right from the off. It will be interesting to see how his players, particularly Russell Wilson, react to the new voice in the locker room. Given that this team went just 3-11 SU in their last 14 games, you do get the sense that the only way to go is up, but this is certainly a tricky season opener against a team that has had their number in recent years. On a positive note, the Broncos ended last season covering in 4 of their final 6 games, but as we have already discussed, their record against the Raiders does not deliver much in the way of confidence. Each of their last 7 games in the month of September have gone UNDER.

Expert Pick and Series Prediction

The obvious bet here would appear to be the UNDER, which is exactly how I will be playing this one. I might also be tempted to take the Raiders for the SU win, which would also mean that they would cover the spread. Las Vegas Raiders 21 Denver Broncos 20
