NFL Washington Commanders Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

NFL Washington Commanders Offense In-Depth Betting Analysis

One of the most intriguing teams in the NFL this season, nobody believes the Washington Commanders have what it takes to make it to the playoffs. However, it looks like D.C. has made great strides to put themselves into a position to challenge for at least a wildcard. If the Commanders do make the playoffs in the 2023-2024 NFL Season, it will be because the offense took a massive forward leap.

With that in mind, check out an in-depth NFL betting odds and analysis for Washington’ offense from the MyBookie experts.

Washington Commanders Offensive Changes During the Offseason

The Washington Commanders didn’t use their first two draft picks on offense, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t make any changes to the unit this offseason. In fact, D.C. may have made the most significant change without adding to their roster.

Head coach Ron Rivera declared former North Carolina Tar Heel Sam Howell this season’s starting quarterback. Howell gets to play for the second most significant change on offense, hiring Eric Bienemy, the former OC at Kansas City, to call plays.

Commanders Quarterbacks Analysis

Sam Howell couldn’t have asked for a better set up. The Washington Commanders have built a decent offensive line, and a pretty good receivers room. But the real reason to believe Howell develops into a legit pro starter this season is because Bienemy will call the plays.

The former Chiefs offensive coordinator is one of the most talented play callers in the league. Bienemy learned under the great Andy Reid. He will ensure Howell has success.

Commanders Offensive Line Analysis

Most rank the Commanders offensive line one of the worst in the league. Many have D.C.’s offensive line at twenty-seventh to thirtieth in the NFL.

At a ranking worse than twenty-fifth, no doubt, most won’t expect much from the unit. But here’s the thing: offensive line success has a lot to do with play-calling. Eric Bienemy will design strategies that allow Washington’s offensive line to be successful this season.

Commanders Wide Receivers Room Analysis

Terry McLaurin has become one of the NFL’s best wide receivers. McLaurin caught an amazing 77 passes for 1,191 yards and 5 TDs even though he played most of the season with Carson Wentz at quarterback.

Jahan Dotson, last year’s top pick, has decent upside. Curtis Samuel is solid and Logan Thomas is a good tight-end. Overall, Washington’s wide receiver room should be one of the NFC’s best units.

Commanders Running Backs Room Analysis

Brian Robinson Jr. runs with authority. If the offensive line gels, and if Bienemy is creative with his play-calling, Robinson Jr. will have a good season.

Antonio Gibson has great hands. So we should expect Gibson to get it done both in the passing and running games.

Washington Commanders Points Scored & Yards Per Game Range Prediction

Last season, the Commanders ranked twentieth in yards per game at 330.3 and twenty-fourth in points per game at 18.9.

D.C. should improve on both fronts. Even if Howell doesn’t turn into one of the NFC’s best quarterbacks, Bienemy’s play-calling should lead to more yards and more points. Check out the predicted ranges for both.

Commanders Yard Per Game Range: 340 – 360
Commanders Points Scored Range: 20 – 24

QB Sam Howell to Win NFL MVP: +9000

The chances of Sam Howell winning the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award stand at +9000. Even at those ridiculous odds, Howell might be an underlay.

The issue won’t be whether Howell plays well or not. Sam should be okay as long as the offensive line is better than projected and Bienemy hasn’t lost his play-calling touch.

The problem Howell will face, though, is posting stats that are good enough to make him the MVP. He won’t. So unless you are a Washington fan, backing Howell at +9000 doesn’t make sense.
