The Maple Leafs have known they’re playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs for a few months now, but the Panthers are still battling for the final wild-card spot in the East. Florida is tied with the New York Islanders for the last two wild card spots, with the Pittsburgh Penguins just one point back. All three teams have two games remaining.
That makes Monday’s game a must-win for the Panthers. Toronto has been resting some of its star players and is coming off of an easy 7-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens at home. This should be a guaranteed win for Florida, which is a -140 favorite.

Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangers

New York, however, still has home ice in the first round to play for and won’t be resting players. The Rangers are -190 ML favorites. The over (-125) is another decent bet considering it has hit in three of the Sabres’ last four games and two of the last four Rangers games.

Nashville Predators vs. Calgary Flames

This is the marquee matchup in the West on Monday, as the loser will likely be eliminated from playoff contention. Calgary has squandered so many chances during the last month and will need a win and some help from other teams to earn a wild card spot. They’re one point back of the Winnipeg Jets for the final spot, but have just two games left, whereas the Jets have three.
The Flames are just 19-16-4 at home this season and, considering the way this year has gone, it almost feels like a loss is certain tonight. The Predators (+160) ML offers great value tonight.

Washington Capitals vs. Boston Bruins
