As we do at this time every week, we are going to make 3 straight up picks, all from games that bookies have as being close, which means that one team is favored by less than a touchdown. Kansas City Chiefs over Miami Dolphins

Speaking of upsets this season, the Denver Broncos beating the Chiefs in Week 8 has to be viewed as one of the biggest surprises of the season. Given how good KC has been in the Patrick Mahomes era, you have to know that this result is almost certainly a one off, which could be bad news for the Dolphins this weekend. While Miami has looked very good this season, both of their losses to this point have come against teams that many consider to be among the favorites to win the Super Bowl. In short, they have developed a habit of losing the big games, which is what I think happens again this weekend.

Green Bay Packers over LA Rams

This is one of those games that is incredibly difficult to handicap for a variety of different reasons. The Packers are young and adjusting to life with a new QB under center. There have been, as expected, some bumps in the road, with the Packers coming into this week riding a 4-game losing skid. The Rams have been tough to peg down this season. They are probably a little better than expected, but they have also delivered some stinkers that make you question everything. The thing that stands out for me with this matchup is that the Rams have won just once in their last 9 meetings with Green Bay, which edges things in the direction of the Packers for me.

Baltimore Ravens over Seattle Seahawks

Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
TV/Streaming: CBS

After 8 weeks of the season, you could make an argument that both of these teams deserve to move up from dark horse status to potential Super Bowl winners. I am, though, still reserving judgment on that until we get a little deeper into the second half of the season. Seattle has a fantastic recent record against teams from the AFC North, winning 7 of the last 10 meetings, but this Ravens team appears to be getting into a bit of a groove at the moment. They have won 3 on a row and have crossed the 30-point mark in each of their last 2 games. They are 5-1 SU versus the NFC West and have won each of their last 6 non-conference games. Slight edge to the Ravens in this one.
