London’s Unofficial Team Isn’t Bad Across the Bond

Atlanta vs Jacksonville | Week 4
When: Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 9:30 am pm ET
Where: Wembley Stadium | Wembley, England

While nervous fans in Jacksonville often worry that the Jaguars may one day leave North Florida, there’s an equal fear from any potential landing spot that a new fanbase would get a less-than-outstanding franchise. Before last season’s run to the AFC Divisional game, the Jaguars had suffered through a number of lean years.

Despite sending some bad teams to London to play, Jacksonville has a 4-5 record when playing in England. Bizarrely, Jacksonville, which won the AFC South last season, lost its game in London last season to a poor Denver Broncos squad. The Jaguars will play twice in London in 2023.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will take on an Atlanta Falcons’ franchise that is still rebuilding in Week 4 before returning to face the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. With Jacksonville starting to improve under Doug Pederson, it will be interesting to see if London more enthusiastically welcomes the Jaguars this time around.

Return of the Old Black-and-Blue Games

Ravens vs Titans | Week 6
When: Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 9:30 am pm ET
Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | London, England

The Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans were old AFC Central rivals before the NFL realigned its divisions when the Houston Texans came into the league in 2003. However, these two teams, which will meet in London in Week 6, have found a way to stay acquainted with each other.

In 26 games played between each other, including five postseason battles, the two teams are tied with 13 wins apiece. Baltimore knocked Tennessee out of the 2021 postseason, while the Titans eliminated the Ravens during their 2020 playoff meeting.

Germany Ready for a Second Go-around with NFL

Chiefs vs Miami | Week 9
When: Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 9:30 am pm ET
Where: Deutsche Bank Park | Frankfurt, Germany

The NFL decided to host games in Germany last season for the first time in league history. Germany was the former stronghold of NFL Europe, known as NFL Europa when it folded in 2007, as five of the league’s six teams were based in the county. Last season, the German fans got to see Tom Brady in his swan song season.

This season, Germany will host two games in Frankfurt after it was held in Munich last season. Two teams that qualified for the AFC playoffs, the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, will play at Frankfurt Stadium in Week 9.

The second matchup features two old rivals that are hoping to find a path forward. The New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, who both missed the playoffs last season, will meet in Week 10. The Colts may be breaking in first-round pick Anthony Richardson at quarterback by this point, while New England is hoping Mac Jones will recapture the form from his rookie season.
