NFL 2022 Detroit Lions WinLoss Betting Prediction for the Upcoming Season

NFL 2022 Detroit Lions Win/Loss Betting Prediction for the Upcoming Season

Given the salary cap in the NFL, we all expect teams to go through some rough periods as they rebuild after getting into cap trouble. There are a handful of teams who always manage to be competitive, while there are also a few at the pother end of the scale. For those teams, it seems to be a permanent rebuild that never seems to bear any fruit. You have to say that the Detroit Lions fall squarely into that category, as they have averaged less than 5 wins per season over the past 4 years. They went 13-3-1 last season under new head coach Dan Campbell and will be looking for some sort of improvement this coming season. The bookies seem to think that the Lions might be able to take a bit of a step forward, as they have the win total for Detroit set at 6 ½. They have made some good moves this offseason, but the jury is still out on Jared Goff at QB, so a lot is going to ride on whether he can deliver the goods this season. Let’s break it down to see if we can come up with a win total pick for the 2022 Detroit Lions so you can place your bets against their NFL Team Totals odds.

Lions 2022 Schedule

The Lions have a chance to get off to a winning start, as they open the new season at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a good test against a team that made the playoffs last year, but it looks like a tough one. They could get a win in Week 2 versus the Commanders, but they are unlikely to get much joy out of a visit to Minnesota to close out September.

October begins with a home game versus the Seahawks, which looks winnable for now. Who knows which QB will be starting for Seattle this coming season, so this pick could well change. They then have road trips to New England and Cowboys, which could well prove to be fruitless. They close out the month with a home game versus the Dolphins, who look set to make a step forward this season.

November could be interesting, and there is a possibility that the Lions might just get a split out of their 4 games. They have the Packers and Bills at home, both of which will likely be losses, but they also have road trips against the Bears and Giants. Both are winnable, but going on the road, regardless of the opponent, is never easy.

The Lions have the potential to close out the season on a positive note, as their schedule through the final few weeks in favorable. Home to the Jaguars is winnable, which is followed by a tough trip to Minnesota. They have the Panthers and Bears after that, both of which are games that are there for the taking, before closing out the season versus the Packers.

Win Total Prediction

This team has a long to way to go to become competitive or to be thinking about the playoffs. I don’t see this as being the season where it happens. I certainly think they will be better than last year, but 6 wins seems like the high bar for me, so I am taking the UNDER.
