Series History

Green Bay leads all-time 9-5. They last played in 2019 in Oakland and the Packers won 42-24. Aaron Rodgers threw for 429 yards and five scores but is of course with the Jets now. Derek Carr finished 22-for-28 for 293 yards, two touchdowns and two costly turnovers for the Raiders. Carr is now with New Orleans. The Packers have won the past eight in the series. This will be only the second MNF meeting between the Packers and Raiders (2003 in Oakland).

Why Bet on Green Bay?

Green Bay has been off since a 34-20 home loss to Detroit on Thursday in Week 4. Jordan Love completed 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added two rushes for minus-2 yards and another score. He also committed a fumble that was recovered by Green Bay and threw a two-point conversion pass.

The Lions outrushed the Packers 211-27 on the night, while Love was sacked five times and harassed on many of his 36 pass attempts. “It’s hard to throw on your back,” Coach Matt LaFleur said. “We’ve got to protect him better.”

Up front, the Packers were playing once again with Rasheed Walker at left tackle in place of David Bakhtiari, who went on injured reserve and is done for the year, and with Royce Newman at left guard for the injured Elgton Jenkins. Right tackle Zach Tom also played with a questionable knee. Tom will play in this one and Jenkins will return.

Star cornerback Jaire Alexander is questionable. The All-Pro defender missed the last two games with a back injury but practiced all week. “He did everything we asked him to do. We’ll see how he’s feeling on Monday night,” LaFleur said.

Cornerback Eric Stokes (foot), who’s currently on the physically unable to perform list, is also questionable. Stokes would need to be added to the 53-man roster in order to play. Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (ankle) and safety Zayne Anderson (hamstring) have been ruled out.

Quay Walker has quickly become the Packers’ top defender as a sideline-to-sideline defender with superb instincts, awareness and playmaking skills. The second-year pro is the Packers’ leading tackler (47), with several splash plays dotting his resume. Considering how Walker’s tackles for loss (two), passes defensed (two) and interceptions (one).

Green Bay has scored 30-plus points against the Raiders in five straight games, matching its longest streak against a single opponent (Chargers, 1996-2011; Eagles, 1954-70).

Why Bet on Las Vegas?

This will be the first time the Packers face former Green Bay WR Davante Adams (2014-21), who ranks in the top five in franchise history in receptions (No. 2, 669), receiving yards (No. 4, 8,121) and touchdowns (73, No. 3), receiving touchdowns (73, No. 2). Adams also owns the top two marks for receptions in a single season (123 in 2021 and 115 in 2020) and the single-season record for receiving yards (1,553 in 2021). He was traded to the Raiders ahead of the 2022 season.

Adams is listed as questionable for Monday but fully expected to play. He has 33 catches for 397 yards and three TDs. The All-Pro said that he’s “not looking too deep” into the emotional side of things and noted that there’s been a lot of changes to the roster since his departure. He said the connection is “about the organization” rather than any players, although any feelings he has about facing his first team will go away once the game is underway.

“That’s the part leading up to it,” Adams said. “Once the game starts, it’s just like every other game. It’s not gonna be a lot of emotion and that other stuff tied up in it once the clock is ticking.”

Starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a concussion during a Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 24 but never left the game. He missed Sunday’s loss at the Los Angeles Chargers but has been cleared for Monday. Garoppolo has passed for 709 yards while completing 68.1% of his passes for five touchdowns in three games. He is tied for the league lead in interceptions with six.

“It was tough but it is what it is,” Garoppolo said of missing Week 4. “Got to move past it at this point, just focus on Green Bay. … Makes everything easier when you have an opponent for next week and we have to focus on that. The train isn’t stopping. Have to jump on and keep rolling with it.”

Jimmy G’s most memorable performance against the Packers came in the 2021 season’s divisional round, with his San Francisco 49ers defeating the Green Bay, 13-10, to advance to the NFC Championship game. Ironically, that was also Davante Adams’ last game in a Packers uniform.

Top Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday night’s game. Hobbs will be held out for the second consecutive week, as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. Jakorian Bennett (hamstring) and David Long (ankle) are listed as questionable, and if either of them are able to suit up Monday, they’ll likely see an uptick in work with Hobbs missing time.
