NFL 2021 Power Rankings Week 1 Betting Preview

Heading into the new NFL season, we all have an idea of which teams we believe will be among the Super Bowl favorites and which will be lucky to get anywhere near the playoff line. As history has shown, those rankings very often go out the window once the season begins, but it’s always fun to see where a team stands at the end of the regular season compared to where they are in Week 1. With that in mind, we will be taking a regular look at the NFL Power Rankings to see how things change over the course of the season. To get the ball rolling, we are going to look at the current top and bottom 5 teams as per the Power Rankings put together on the official MFL website. Let’s get to it so you can get ready to bet against the NFL odds.

Power Rankings Expert Analysis for the 1st Week of the 2021 NFL Season

Top 5 Teams

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – When you win the Super Bowl, you are absolutely going to start the next season as the top team in the league. The question now is whether Brady and company can keep that spot with a huge target on their backs.
  2. Kansas City Chiefs – Two straight Super Bowl appearances and the best player in the league starting under center. You could have made an argument for the Chiefs to be #1 to start the season and I certainly think they will get there at some point.
  3. Buffalo Bills – Last season proved to be a breakout year for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. They made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game and will be looking to go one better this time around.
  4. Green Bay Packers – You do have to wonder where the Packers would have started the season in the Power Rankings if reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers had decided not to return. He is back, though, and the Packers look like a legit threat.
  5. Baltimore Ravens – We all now know that the Ravens can rack up wins in the regular season, but can they translate that to succeed in the postseason? Either way, they are likely to remain in the top 5 for quite some time.

Bottom 5 Teams

    1. New York Jets – After years of being a bit of a laughing stock, it does look as though the Jets might be headed in the right direction. Success is not going to come quickly, though, so maybe don’t expect too much this season.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars – There are going to be a couple of teams in the bottom 5 who find a way to climb out during the season. The Jaguars‘ schedule in the opening weeks is somewhat kind, so they might be the first to move up.
  2. Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals look to have their franchise QB in place, but Joe Burrow still needs help and needs to put aside the horrific injury that ended his rookie season. There is still a monumental climb ahead of the Bengals.
  3. Detroit Lions – For years, the Lions refused to build a team around one of the best QBs in the league. Matthew Stafford is now in LA and Jared Goff looks set to suffer the same fate as Stafford in Detroit. A long season ahead for the Lions.
  4. Houston Texans – The last couple of years have become a circus for the Houston Texans, both on the field and off. They look set to be the worst team in the league this year, with reports already emerging that they might be willing to tank.
