From Week 1, we all start to keep an eye on the divisions and how things are shaping up there, but as the season progresses, we tend to start looking at the playoff picture as a whole.
Heading into Week 12, I think it’s safe to say that all eyes are now on the playoffs, as things are starting to look a little desperate for a handful of teams.
NFL Week 12 Must Bet Games Analysis
There is, though, still time for teams below the cut line to make a move, but the margin for error is getting thinner with each passing week.
This is the stage of the season where wins and losses suddenly seem much more important, and there are a ton of games this coming weekend that will have an impact on the overall standings.
Let’s dive into the must bet games for NFL Week 12, while also looking at the current odds.
^TNF Pittsburgh Steelers -191 at Cleveland Browns +154
Thursday, November 21, 2024, 8:15 PM, Prime Video
It has been a rather strange schedule for the Steelers to this point, as they just played their first divisional game of the season last weekend, which ended with a huge win for Pittsburgh over the Baltimore Ravens. They are now heading into a short week for another AFC North game against the struggling Cleveland Browns.
The Steelers are at the top of the division with an 8-2 record and can take a real stranglehold on the North with a win in this one. You would certainly fancy their chances against a Browns team that is sinking like a stone with a 2-8 record, but these AFC North games always seem to be tight. The Steelers are in as a 4-point road favorite, with the total set at 36.
^Dallas Cowboys +410 at Washington Commanders -575
Sunday, November 24, 2024, 1:00 PM, FOX
You know your season is not going well when all the talk is about how much longer we need to wait before the head coach is fired. That is very much the conversation in Dallas at the moment, with the Cowboys looking nothing short of awful for the vast majority of the season. Dallas is sitting at 3-7 right now, with their hopes of going to the postseason pretty much reduced from slim to none.
They will hit the road this weekend to face a Washington Commanders team that is thriving with rookie QB Jayden Daniels under center. The Commanders have dropped to 7-4 after losing 2 in a row, so they will be looking to bounce back as a 10 ½ point home favorite. The total is currently sitting at 45.
^San Francisco 49ers +112 at Green Bay Packers -138
Sunday, November 24, 2024, 4:25 PM, FOX
This has been something of a nightmare season for the 49ers, who come into Week 12 sitting at 5-5. They have had some real issues with injuries this season, with QB Brock Purdy the latest to fall foul of the injury bug sweeping through the locker room. If there is a silver lining for the 49ers, it’s that the NFC West is tight, with the Cardinal on top at 6-4. A decent run of form can change things quickly, but the 49ers need to start winning now.
You get a pretty solid idea of just how strong the NFC North is this season by looking at the Packers. They are 7-3 right now, which is only good enough for 3rd in the division, but they are still looking strong in the Wild Card race. The Packers barely escaped with a win over the Bears this past weekend, and this will be another tough one. The Packers are favored by 2 ½, with the total set at 48.
^Arizona Cardinals -115 at Seattle Seahawks -106
Sunday, November 24, 2024, 4:25 PM, FOX
As we mentioned when talking about the 49ers matchup in Week 12, the NFC West Division is ridiculously tight at the moment, which makes these divisional games absolutely huge. The Cardinals are on top right now, but given that they are just 6-4, it is certainly not what you would call a commanding lead. That said, the Cardinals are hot at the moment and come into Week 12 on a 4-game win streak. They also have the benefit of a perfect 2-0 record in divisional games.
The Seahawks are coming off a last-gasp win over the 49ers this past weekend, which leaves them at 5-5 and in a 3-way tie with 2 of the other teams in the West. Strangely enough, Seattle has been much better on the road than at home, so being in their own building this weekend might not be a huge advantage. The Cardinals are favored by 1, with the total set at 47 ½.
^Philadelphia Eagles -155 at LA Rams +127
Sunday, November 24, 2024, 8:20 PM, NBC-Peacock
There was definitely some concern about the state of the Philadelphia Eagles in the early going, as they went a rather mediocre 2-2 through their opening 4 games. They seem to have turned a corner since then, though, coming into this weekend having won each of their last 6 games to move to 8-2 and take full control of the NFC East.
They have been solid away from home this season, going 4-1 in road games. The Rams are sitting at 5-5, but as we have already mentioned, that record is more than good enough to keep them alive in the hunt for the NFC West Division crown. They are coming off a win this past weekend and will be looking to take advantage of playing at home. The Eagles are a 3-point favorite, with the total set at 50 ½.
^MNF Baltimore Ravens -159 at LA Chargers +129
Monday, November 25, 2024, 8:15 PM, ABC-ESPN
This feels like a matchup made for Monday night, as we will have the Harbaugh brothers going head-to-head in what is a massive conference game. The Ravens lost the opportunity to move to the top of the AFC North this past weekend, losing 18-16 to the Steelers and dropping to 7-4 in the process.
The Chargers are showing some real signs of life under their new head coach, Jim Harbaugh, and come into this weekend having won each of their last 4 games. They have been tough to beat at home, going 4-1 in their own building. This should be a great game, and we have the Ravens in as a 3-point road favorite, with the point total set at 51.
