This week, the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. The NASCAR Xfinity Series has traditionally been the minor-league circuit to the top-tier Cup Series. The Xfinity Series has offered NASCAR Cup Drivers the opportunity to drive in the lower tier on their days off, often taking away spots in the field from younger drivers interested in gaining experience.
NASCAR has put limits on competing across series to keep Cup Series drivers focused on the Cup Series, allowing younger drivers to use the Xfinity Series to build a profile in the sport. This week, the Xfinity Series moves to Richmond Raceway for some short-track action.
Let’s take a look at this week’s NASCAR lines for the Xfinity Series Pit Boss 250 running at Richmond Raceway for some short-track action.

Richmond Raceway: The Action Track
The ToyotaCare 250 starts on April 1, 2023. The ToyotaCare 250 is one of two NASCAR races held in the spring at the Richmond Raceway. The course also hosts two races in the fall and traditionally hosts the final race in the schedule before the Chase for the Championship series starts in both divisions.
The course itself is a 0.75-mile asphalt race track. The track and the speeds it reaches provide fans with that old-school rubbing and racing that NASCAR is known for. Richmond has long been a fan favorite in NASCAR, and we should expect more of the same this weekend in the Xfinity Series.
Xfinity Series Drivers to Target in Richmond
Six races into the Xfinity Series season, some clear trends are emerging. Four drivers have scored top ten placements in six races so far. Those drivers are Riley Herbst, John H. Nemechek, Austin Hill, and Josh Berry. All four drivers would be worth wagering on to win or place in the top ten again.
The most appealing bet out of this pack is Austin Hill. Hill has had a great start to the race season. He has won two pole positions, won three races outright, and finished in the top-ten five times. Hill’s momentum was slowed slightly last week with his first DNF of the season due to engine troubles. At +1000 for this week, there’s a significant opportunity for value on Hill at the Richmond track.
Since the Xfinity Series is a place for younger drivers to shine, check out Sheldon Creed at +1250. Creed has started four of the six races this season in the top ten of the starting grid and has three top-tens and one top-five finish.
Another young driver to check out is 18-year-old Sammy Smith. Smith is driving his first full-time season in the Xfinity Series and has run well over the last three races. He won the 2023 United Rentals 200 in Phoenix, won the pole in Atlanta, and finished fourth at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. At +660, he’s an intriguing youngster who we could see at the higher levels of NASCAR quickly.
