Last Meeting
The all-time series is tied 6-6 with Arizona winning the last meeting 23-19 on the road in 2019. The Bengals are set to travel the fewest miles of any NFL team in 2023 and this is their longest trip since they played in the Super Bowl. Since the Cards beat the Bengals nearly four years to the day at Paycor, 26-23, they are 27-34.
Why Bet on Cincinnati?
Something is hugely wrong with the Bengals offense in the 1-3 start as the team was dominated last Sunday in a 27-3 loss at Tennessee and is averaging 12.3 points per game. Burrow completed 20-of-30 passes for 165 yards while losing a fumble in the Week 4 loss. The Bengals are last in the NFL in offensive points per game and have scored three touchdowns, the fewest in the NFL.
A staple of Cincinnati’s offense under head coach Zac Taylor has been a willingness to take shots down the field, and no QB has cashed in on more big plays than Burrow. He has 17 career TD passes of 40 or more yards, more than any NFL QB since he entered the league in 2020. But that’s not happening this year.
“Just have to execute better… You just don’t roll out a whole new style of offense,” offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said.
Burrow is clearly not healthy and the Bengals are trying to hide his lack of mobility by putting him exclusively in shotgun and getting the ball out of his hands quickly, but he’s just not able to buy time in the pocket or move around. The Titans were able to sack him three times and hit him nine and Burrow’s longest completion was for just 17 yards. Burrow did say Wednesday that he’s feeling better than he did the past few weeks while playing through a calf injury:
“Re-injured it two weeks ago now, and so the last couple weeks have been what they’ve been. And it’s been continuing to get better.”
Wideout Tee Higgins suffered a fractured rib in Sunday’s loss but is going to try to play through it. In the previous three years, Higgins has been a big reason for the team’s offensive success. He amassed more than 3,000 combined receiving yards during that span. He has also scored two of the team’s three touchdowns this season.
Tight end Irv Smith Jr. (hamstring) might play for the first time in two weeks. In the four games, the Bengals tight ends have 15 catches for 98 yards combined. Last year, tight end Hayden Hurst had 14 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the first four games by himself while the year before that C.J. Uzomah had nine catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bengals are slated to wear white jerseys, black pants (orange stripes) and white socks this week at Arizona. Cincinnati is 4-3 overall when wearing that combination, which was last featured in a 22-18 win at New England in Week 16 of the 2022 season.

Why Bet on Arizona?
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is eligible to be activated off the PUP list this week but the former No. 1 overall pick is not ready yet and he hasn’t even returned to practice so it likely will be a while. One reason why the Cards have been more competitive than expected is new quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Arizona sent a fifth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for Dobbs and a seventh-round pick in late August.
While Dobbs struggled in the opener, in the past three he has completed 66-of-97 pass attempts (71.0%) for 682 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs and a 106.1 passer rating. He also added 144 rushing yards and a TD on 21 carries. Dobbs’ 123 consecutive pass attempts without an INT in 2023 are the most in franchise history to start a season. In the last two games, rookie WR Michael Wilson has been targeted nine times. He caught them all for 162 yards and two TDs.
In each of the last two games, Arizona faced one of the NFL’s top-3 defenses entering the contest: Dallas (#1) and San Francisco (#3). The Cardinals offense put up a combined 44 points, 5 TDs (3 passing, 2 rushing), 9 scoring drives, 43 first downs, 762 yards and 327 rushing yards while averaging 6.4 yards per play in those contests.
Arizona has gone without a turnover in each of the last three games. In Week 3 the Cardinals snapped the Cowboys streak of eight consecutive games with at least one takeaway. Last week, Arizona snapped the 49ers streak of 12 consecutive games with at least one takeaway, which was the longest active streak in the NFL.
The Cardinals have been unbeatable on their own field in this series, holding a 4-0 home record against the Bengals. That includes a 34-31 win in Week 11 of the 2015 season on Sunday Night Football in Cincinnati’s only regular season visit to State Farm Stadium to date.
