Sports fans have a tendency to overreact to a lot of things, but I think it’s fair to suggest that the aftermath of Week 1 in the NFL is when the hyperbole is at its highest.
There were some surprise results in the opening week of the season, but if anyone believes that fortunes will not change for most teams have not really been paying attention to NFL history.
My NFL Betting Analysis
Heading into Week 2, we have a matchup between a pair of teams that saw their new season begin with a win.
Both very much looked like potential playoff teams based on their performances, but as we just said, overreacting is definitely a thing.
We will get a bit of a clearer picture after this week, but for now, it is the Lions who are in as a 7 ½ point home favorite.
The point total for this one has been set at 51 ½.
^Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds +270
When Tom Brady decided it was time to call an end to his amazing career, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were left with a massive hole to fill.
Very few probably believed that Baker Mayfield would be the one to fill that hole, but he has looked good as the Bucs starter and was arguably one of the offensive stars of the week in Week 1.
The Bucs look like an early favorite in the South, but again, it is still very early, and this will be a much sterner test.
The Bucs are now 7-2 SU in their last 10 games, as well as winning 7 of their last 10 meetings with Detroit.
While they are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games, they have covered just 4 times in the last 16 versus the Lions.
The OVER has hit in 4 of the last 5 road games for Tampa Bay.

Detroit Lions Odds -350
Last season, the Lions were the sexy dark horse pick for a lot of fans and bettors, and now that they essentially delivered on that belief, they come into this season as one of the favorites to be shotting for a Super Bowl.
The Lions did get the new season off to a win, but they had to battle hard and come from behind to beat the LA Rams in OT.
Heading into this game, the Lions are now on a run that has seen them win 5 in a row in their own building.
That said, they are 3-7 SU in their last 10 home meetings with the Bucs. They are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games, as well as 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games.
The OVER has hit in 9 of the last 13 games overall for the Lions.

-Likely R high ankle sprain as he gets rolled up on. Didn't miss a play.
-DNP Wed. He says he's good but high ankles can be tricky.
-Availability vs Bucs in question. Hope he can get up to at least LP by Friday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions Betting Prediction
I definitely like the Lions to take care of business in their own building, but I am a little concerned about taking them to cover the spread, too.
The Bucs have more than enough firepower to stay in this one all the way.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24, Detroit Lions 30
