NFL Division Betting Analysis: Who Has Won and Who Can Win

NFL Division Betting Analysis: Who Has Won and Who Can Win

The NFL preseason has begun, giving us our first look at every team in the league. While it’s fun to have football back, most of the guys we are watching right now will not be on the field as starters in the regular season, making it difficult to accurately assess any team. That said, we still have a solid idea of how each team might perform this season, so with that in mind, let’s take a closer look at each of the divisions to see how they might go, so you can prepare your NFL betting strategies.

AFC

East

Defending Champions: Buffalo Bills

It almost goes without saying that the Bills will be the favorites to win the East again this season, but they might have a stiffer challenge. The Jets now have Aaron Rodgers under center, while the Dolphins could be a threat if Tua stays healthy. The Patriots are the only team I am counting out.

North

Defending Champions: Cincinnati Bengals

There is a bit of a concern in regards the health of Joe Burrow, but he should be fine and ready to roll for the Bengals. They are the favorites, but you really could make a solid argument for the Ravens, Steelers, and Browns. This division is going to be fun to watch.

South

Defending Champions: Jacksonville Jaguars

The South is arguably the weakest division in the AFC and looks to be the Jaguars to lose this season. If Jacksonville can play as well as they did in the second half of last season, they should walk away with the division.

West

Defending Champions: Kansas City Chiefs

Can anyone break the hold that the Chiefs have on the West right now? It’s a tough question, but I think the LA Chargers might be up to the task. I’m not suggesting that they will win it, but I think they can give KC a run for their money.

NFC

East

Defending Champions: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles won the East and made it all the way to the Super Bowl last season, so there is every reason to expect them to repeat in 2023. The Dallas Cowboys might have something to say about that, while the New York Giants might be a bit of a dark horse.

North

Defending Champions: Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings won 13 games last season on their way to winning the North, but the expectation is that they will take a backward step this season. That might well open the door for the Detroit Lions, plus it will be interesting to see the Packers with Jordan Love leading the offense.

South

Defending Champions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs won this division with a losing record in 2022, but I don’t think they will be anywhere near the top this time around. It will be fun to see what Derek Carr does as the QB for the Saints, but the South still looks pretty wide open.

West

Defending Champions: San Francisco 49ers

There is zero argument here, I believe, as the 49ers are the class of this division and look like a good bet to win it again. Realistically, the Seattle Seahawks look like the only other team in a division with any shot at making the postseason.
