The 2023 season will be their 23rd season in FBS football. The Huskies have not had a winning season since 2010, and this is the year folks are planning it to happen.

The UConn offense will look to use the running game of Victor Rosa and Devontae Houston behind an offensive line that has four guys returning. 

Ta’Quan Robinson, who started his College Football career at Penn State, should be the starting quarterback for the Huskies. He will start over Zion Turner, who struggled last season after being thrown into the fire early in his career.

Aaron Turner left the program. He was the top receiver for the team a season ago. Louis Hensen, a tight end out of Michigan, should get plenty of looks, along with Kevens Clercius. 

The Huskies are going to need more bodies to step up and catch passes down the field.

A season ago, the Huskies passing game was okay. The best teams on the schedule took advantage of it a little more, but this team has gradually gotten better against the pass.

Jackson Mitchell is one of the best linebackers in the country. While he is not huge, he gets the job done. Eriq Gilyard, a transfer out of Kansas, is another guy that should increase this defense’s ability to get stops

The Week 1 affair is not an easy one. North Carolina State is going to be a good football team. The Huskies come into the game as more than a two-touchdown underdog here.

The total for the game is 47, so oddsmakers are expecting a low-scoring game. UConn would lose 31-17 or 34-17 if oddsmakers were always right about their job. Regardless, this is a tough test road for any team.
