Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Prediction: Road to the MLB 2023 Season

Last season was a huge disappointment for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as they were dropped in the NLDS by the rival San Diego Padres. Now, they are tasked with turning things around this year, in what should be a competitive National League once again.

Can the Dodgers make the most of the changes they’ve made, or are they in for another season where they fall short of expectations?

Los Angeles Dodgers: 2023 Season Prediction

Can Syndergaard Deliver In Rotation?

One of the bigger moves that the Dodgers made in the offseason was bringing in Noah Syndergaard to fill out the back end of their rotation. Syndergaard appeared in 25 games between his time with the Angels and Phillies, going 10-10 in those contests. The question going into this year is whether Syndergaard can deliver more for the Dodgers, to elevate their starting rotation.

On one hand, it was a positive that Syndergaard was simply able to get back onto the mound last year, after pitching two combined innings in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. But if the Dodgers want to be a true title contender this season, they are going to need to get something out of their fifth starter. This is especially true with Clayton Kershaw continuing to age at the top of their rotation.

Hitting Questions

Offensively, the Dodgers could be weaker than they have been in the recent past, as they offloaded a few quality bats in the offseason. However, they still have several big names to lead their lineup, including Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. This lineup will by no means be bad, but it will be interesting to see how the Dodgers stack up to their offensive output over the last couple of seasons.

In the NLDS last season, the Dodgers scored five runs in their series opener, then failed to score more than three runs in a game for the rest of the series. Even if their pitching staff does deliver this year, that kind of offensive showing in the playoffs is unlikely to be good enough. The pressure will be firmly on the shoulders of the established names of the Dodgers to do more in October.

Dodgers Season Prediction: National League Pennant

This season will be an interesting one for the Dodgers, as it feels like it is a now-or-never moment in their championship window. They should be able to win the National League, especially with the Mets being an unproven entity. But they are going to run into a team in the American League that is too well-rounded for them, cutting them down in the World Series in 2023.

Specifically, the Houston Astros are likely to be the team that takes out the Dodgers if they end up getting to the World Series. The combination of elite pitching and timely hitting for the Astros is simply unmatched, even with the Dodgers boasting plenty of quality all over the field. It is not advisable to bet on the Dodgers to win the World Series, but they may be a good bet to take down the National League pennant instead.
