Heading into last season, it had been several years since Jets fans had any real hope of success.
The arrival of Aaron Rodgers had fans cautiously optimistic, but when the all-star QB blew up his Achilles in the opening drive of the season, those hopes and dreams went up in smoke.
Regular Season Wins New York Jets Over 9.5 / Under 9.5 Jets To Reach the Playoffs: Yes -161 / No +131 |
My Analysis
Rodgers is set to return this season, and some pundits have the Jets in as a potential dark horse this time around.
The won total for the New York Jets is set at 9 ½ for the 2024 season. The Jets are at +189 to win the AFC East and +1125 to win the conference.
For the purposes of this piece, we are simply looking at their potential win total for the season, so let’s dive right in.
^September
New York have a tough opening game, as they need to go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers, which looks to be a loss.
The rest of the month is definitely winnable, starting with another road trip to face the rebuilding Titans.
That is followed by home games against the Patriots and Broncos. There is every reason to believe that the Jets could get out of the opening month with a 3-1 record.

October
October begins with another game they should win, which is a home tilt against the Minnesota Vikings.
Things get tougher after that, with the Buffalo Bills at home, followed by a road trip to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They close out October with a home game against the Patriots and another road trip, this time with the Houston Texans on board.
I think 3-2 seems likely in October, taking the Jets to 6-3.
^November
It’s a relatively quiet month for the Jets in November, as they have just 2 games to play.
Road trips are never easy, but heading out to face the Arizona Cardinals should end in a win.
They close out November at home to the Colts, which I think should be another win, taking the Jets to 8-3.
^December & January
Week 12 is a bye week for the Jets, but they will return with a home game against the Seattle Seahawks, which I like them to win.
A road trip to Miami to face the Dolphins is next, with that one looking to be a good deal trickier.
The final two games could well decide who wins the East. Overall, I think we see the Jets end the season with an 11-6 record.
Predicting the Jets will finish with an 11-6 record at the end of the regular season.
This should secure them a Wild Card spot in the playoffs, with the Bills winning the East.
